Pink, Pink and MORE Pink!

Hi chickies and HAPPY PINK SATURDAY!

I haven't come to this party in awhile...things have been so hectic here at the cottage...but I'm happy to be here today.

I swear, when I was born, I popped out in a pink tutu, just like this one. I've allllways been a frilly lovin' girlie....

And, although I don't even remember it.... I probably had a little frock just like this one.

And, surely shoes to go with it just like these... :-)

And, in the years to come....lots and lots of dresses like this one.....

With matching handbags.. :-)

My poor Mum... I don't know how she did it. I was born in the era when Mum's starched their daughter's little dresses, and if mine got the teeniest bit soiled I wanted a clean one ASAP.

I didn't wear my first pair of pants until I was eight years old. I LOVED wearing a dress, why would I want to wear icky pants??? :-) I had long, blond curls to my waist and HATED to have my hair in a pony tail..... That just was NOT cute. See, pretty darn prissy. Yep, as a matter of fact, still am. Although I don't don those little pink tulle numbers too much anymore. :-) And, I wear pants allllll the time.....

It would have been so much easier on my Mum had I been born in the wash and dry era..... She'd have saved so many hours slaving over a hot ironing board.... Bless her little heart.

Have a wonderful Pink Saturday dear ones.

Big huggies and lovies,
Spencer

I'm linking to Sweet Beverly's Pink Saturday Meme.... You can see all of the other delish pinks here.

You won't want to miss them....it's always so much fun.

  1. Oh precious, this is a heartfelt, FUN and reminiscing post! FIRST OF ALL, that HANDBAG IS A MUST AT ANY AGE!!! GIVE IT TO ME!!! teeeeeheeeeee! Oh dear, that is too cute. AND....I too, in my era, not too long after yours, STARCH was a must. I also wore pretty little dresses that were starched to PER-FEC-TION. The more the skirt stuck out, THE BETTER! And I wore petticoats and such. AND....I too did not wear pants until I was around 8 as well. My daddy insisted that his little "niƱa" wear ONLY dresses, and I was pleased as punch to do so! Oh, our mums worked so hard for us, but I could tell that they loved it! And me being the only child, I could get all that attention. Oh sweet Spencer, your posts are always fun and filled with so much charm. COme on over when you can; you are on a list that could be endless for me, a list of people that I want to thank. MANY HUGS TO YOU, you dear pink lady, you!!! Anita

  4. What a cute post! My sweet little grand, Hannah, almost 3 is truly that same kind of girl. Everything girlie, frilly, and she changes clothes all day long. I guess some are just born with the girlie girl gene. :)

  6. I remember my mother ironing all our clothes all the time. At one time she had her ironing done out which was really something in those days. Do people even do that anymore? I remember having to wear pants under our dresses during the winter months as a young school girl because you had to wear a dress to school. School rules in those days.

  7. No wonder we're friends, Spence!

Now, while I wasn't frilly and would get dirty because I was on horseback from the age of four (no lie!), I lived for pink. I also loved to dress up in my older sisters' prom dresses that had acres of tulle... most of which was not pink, but one was... and of course that was the favorite. That and a semi-formal that was white with a bodice that was pink roses. Oh, it was GORGEOUS. Wonder where it is now???

I also had a pink room with a pink phone! If it was pink, I wanted to own it. My sister was the blue girl back then. My mother, though, was always a pinky. ;-)

That is a hoot about you wanting a clean dress if yours got a little dirty and not wanting to wear a pony tail. LOL! You funny one, you!

    Love you much...

    XO,

    Sheila :-)

  16. How precious and fun. I had those pink ballet shoes...and since I was a dance major I had them through college. I finally tossed them after 28 years of non use....the pink was a little faded.
    Fun pink day!!

  17. I used to have a lot of pink throughout my house but I traded it in for yellow and red. I gave birth to three daughters so pink will never completely fade from my life. Your pink photos are lovely!

  26. Spencer, What an adorable post! My seven year old granddaughter showed up today in tiny high heels. She said she is the shortest one in her class and heels make her "even"! She is also such a girly girl and goes nowhere without her purse.

  28. What a cute post. I wasn't a girlie girl. I had four brothers to keep up with. My mom was though. so she wanted me in those little starched dresses and my hair curled all the time. How I hated that. Now, I actually like getting dressed up!
