And, We Had A Wonderful Time.....

Good Morning and Happy Tuesday!

We had such a lovely weekend.....these are our friends, Flip and Leilani, from Hawaii. They were visiting their daughter, who lives in Portland, so we zipped on down to have dinner with them at Salty's on the Columbia River. (Yummy.........delish........fabulous!!!!) I totally forgot to take pix we were having soooo much fun. I'm glad I remembered to at least get this one....the ONLY one.. :-)

Flip is fall over hilarious so we laughed until we hurt. Yeah, we were the last ones standing at the restaurant, everyone had gone home and the staff was preparing for the next day's crowd. It's just not good to try to sleep in an unfamiliar place after drinking boatloads of iced tea! Note to self: Don't do that again. They are just the kindest people ever. I'm so glad to know them. We've played a gazillion games of cribbage with them.....we didn't dare try that at the restaurant....we are VERY loud! :-)

The garage sale went quite well. We had REALLY hot weather......Ewwww.... but we muddled through. My daughter made about 600 dollars and I made about 350. Whew, we got rid of tons and tons of things. I'm so glad to have that over with. One of my daughter's friends brought tons of things for us to sell.....you know the story. Drop it off......... unmarked. Don't offer to help with ANYTHING....making signs, distributing signs, sitting there for two days, keeping their talley apart from ours, paying for the ad.......then happily return to pick up your money? GRRRRRR.

The "something" that's undone me a bit involves someone else as well. They've asked me not to share it just yet, so I'll honor their request for sure......I'll share it later, but I wanted to tell you how much your dear notes of encouragement meant to me. I love you all.....you are AWESOME.

And, finally.........my husband's boss passed away on Sunday. I know so many of you were praying for him. Thank you so very much. He was a great guy and will be soooooo missed at the office. My husband had the day off yesterday and is heading off to work now. I'm feeling sad for him......Some of my dearest friends are girlies I've worked with in the past......you build such close relationships when you're with someone all day every day. Could you please continue to pray for his family? He was only 63.

I haven't been around to visit ANYBODY.....I'm going to get with it tonite and hopefully be able to catch up on all of your sweet little chickies. I'm so sorry.......I've barely had a minute for the past week. I'm going over to help my daughter clean up the garage today. Do you suppose her friend will come and help? :-) Mmmmmm.......yeah, probably not.

Thank you all for hanging in there for me. I never stop being suprised.......what a wonderful group of caring folks. I LOVE ya......I REALLY do!

Have a wonderful day....

Huggies and Lovies,
Spencer

  5. It sounds like you have had an interesting few days. First off, I'm sorry to hear about your husband's boss, how very sad for his family to lose him so soon.

As to the garage sale, I can't believe these people would be so RUDE! I never would have offered to do all that for them, unless they were in dire straights and really needed the help. I guess it's just a life lesson for your daughter. Do you think she'll let it happen again? Not if you have anything to say about it!

  7. I love going to garage sales but HATE having them. I also proudly SNARE 10% of anyone's drop-offs! :) :) :)

Sorry to read about your hubby's boss. May peace come to you and his family and you adjust to this earthly loss.

Love to you sweet SpencieGirl...you've been missed.

  8. Spencer, we all get busy with our lives. This blogging thing is supposed to be secondary, remember?! LOL
Glad you did well in your sale. NO WAY would I accept anybody's anything unless they were willing to help with something! But then I have never had an issue telling anybody anything!!

  9. Life's ups and downs certainly keep us on our toes don't they? I am glad you had fun with your good friends from Hawaii, and sorry for the loss of your husband's boss. It is great you made so much $ at the garage sale and sad that a "friend" used you both. This life has always had the takers and the givers. I appreciate the character of the givers so much more, don't you? And to think all of this happened in just a few days.

    Hugs to you, Spencer!
