Happy Birthday AMERICA!!! I LOVE YOU!

America The Beautiful

O beautiful for spacious skies,
For amber waves of grain,
For purple mountain majesties
Above the fruited plain!
America! America!
God shed His grace on thee
And crown they good with brotherhood
From sea to shining sea!

Oh how I love that song.....and the Stars Spangled Banner....and any other patriotic American song, for that matter. I love to hear them, but I can never sing along. I try. I really, really try. I get a lump in my throat the size of the Statue of Liberty and weep every time I hear one....and get goose bumps the size of Texas! :-)

Yep, I'm a gushy, sloppy, America loving citizen of this great and mighty land!

And, darn proud of it!

No country has a flag as gloriously beautiful as our American flag! Each time I see all the flags displayed in one place........say the Olympics, I'm amazed at how our flag stands out and ABOVE all the rest. It's held the test of time and all the other flags pale in comparison.

Long may she wave.

My sentiments exactly!

Amen.

God bless AMERICA!! Two hundred and thirty-three years old.

And, finally, I want to thank all of those who have fought for our blessed America......and those who continue to fight. I am grateful beyond words.

From my family to yours........

Happy Independence Day!

Please be safe.

And, please pray for our country!

Spencer and her Muffin.

  7. Thank you Spener for this beautiful and patriotic post! It's lovely! I love the Kate Smith version! It's still the best! I've got to tell you this story: Years ago my mom and I used to go downtown to the symphony on the mighty Mississippi river. It was best known for one of our local talents James Heider singing "Ole Man River" but they always started with the symphony playing the Star Spangled Banner and everyone stood and would sing. My mother used to be in the symphony choir and had a beautiful soprano voice. We'd stand and sing and her voice made people stop and listen and then she'd get to that one high note "...land of the free!" it would just hang out there perfectly! People around us would start clapping! Thanks for jarring my memory Spencer! You have a blessed 4th! Lauralu :)
