It's Show and Tell Friday!........How Do You Feel About Estate Sales??

Thanks, Kelli, for hosting another Show and Tell Friday! Please be sure to hop on over and check out all the other fabulous girlies' posts!

www.kellishouse.blogspot.com

Do you love a good estate sale? Whew, it sure is a great place to pick up fabulous items, but, at the same time I feel guilty when I'm going through some one's lifetime of belongings. It's sort of creepy, isn't it?

I regularly get an e-mail from a local gal who does estate sales, complete with photos of her offerings. I've been to several of her sales and have actually purchased two of my very favorite items from her. It's wonderful that she posts photos so you know if the trek will be fruitful.

This is a teacup bonanza, isn't it??

You can always click on the snaps for a bigger view! :-)

I have a picture very similar in style to this one, it may be by the same artist. The frame is even the same shape....I'd LOVE to get this one.........but I doubt I'll be up to the early morning and long drive to go to this sale...

The "witch" sign just does NOT go with this picture.........

I'd LOVE the dog picture on the wall! Becky's prices are always so good..........

These people had tons of collections of "stuff"..........

Another shot of the teacup table.

Now, THIS picture got my little heart beating, for sure! Look at those yummy pieces of rose china! YUM!

It's at least a one hour drive through heavy traffic.........who knows what parking would be like...nahhhhhhh..........I won't be going, but I sure wish I could!

Wishing you a wonderful Friday!

Blessings and hugs,
Spencer

  1. Hello and thanks for visiting my blog! Those photos make everything look so tempting. We don't tend to have estate sales over here and I must admit whenever I read about them on blogs over the pond it does make me want to get to one, although, like you, it is sad to think that you are rummaging through somebody else's belongings. Have a good weekend

  2. It sure looks like a good one. One the last dish table that green bowl in the middle and the dark blue rimmed plate to the far right have me wishing.
I know what you mean about rifling through someones stuff. Makes you wonder:-/
Going the 'play' in the yard today. Tons of wild flower seed to plant. And still working the fence issue in my front section.
    Have a good one yourself,

  3. That is teacup heaven! This clumsy girl would be afraid to walk by that table! I'd knock everthing over I'm sure:)

  4. Looks like it would be a good one! I love to go to them, but it isn't like it used to be. Prices are so high, and the dealers get there long before us and clean the place out. I don't like that. But I would be at that teacup table!!

  6. Good Morning Spencer! I love Estate Sales and Auctions... I really don't think much about the person who previously owned the stuff... I don't know why... but now that you've mentioned it, knowing me and my OCD... I'll probably think about it every time from now on!

I'm like you... I view the photos of upcoming sales and auctions and then determine if it's really worth the trip to me... most of the time... it's not...

thinking of you on Mother's day...
    blessings. Dixie

  7. Hey Spencer!
Estatesales are the greatest places to find treasures, in my book! I know what you mean about the rifiling through other peoples lifetime of stuff, but..Someone has to get rid of it, and most all the time the family has taken what they loved prior.

I dont get to estate sales as much as Id like, because of young children, but its a blast when I do!!
    thanks for stopping by!

  8. I have been to a few estate sales, but I must admit they are really not my favorite shopping venue. There is shadow of sadness around them and I am always amazed that there is not someone within the circle of family and friends that would not want to keep some of these treasures. That said, when I have gotten something here, I always picture some sweet spirit looking down with a smile knowing I will give their belonging a good home and continue to enjoy it. Thanks for stopping by and leaving a comment so that I could find you. Your blog is wonderful and I will definitely be back. Regarding your pantry dilemma, could you move your bedroom TV cabinet into the laundry room and turn it into a little showstopping pantry?
Happy to meet you! J @French-Kissed.com

  9. Oh, Spencer, You need an estate sale buddy! I used to go with my next door neighbor and could not wait for Friday mornings! Still, yes, it is sad. But, it is also a lesson, isn't it? I will say that I collect old sewing and handcraft making items and I treasure them. I like to think I am preserving some of Women's History in the US. Makes me feel better.

  11. I have a hard time going to estate sales because they make me so sad for the former owners. I do love what I find and take comfort that maybe they wouldn't mind so much because I will take care of their little treasures.

  12. My "Granny Betty" with whom I spent much of my childhood had that same picture of Jesus in prayer hanging on her wall for as long as I can remember. Thanks for the memories, Spencer!

  13. I've never attended an estate sale, and don't know much about them. I guess at one time in my future, something like this will happen to my stuff, and some blogger will show their "find."

  14. I went to an estate sale earlier today and it was great, but I sometimes feel the same way--that's is kind of strange and sad to be rummaging through someone's stuff. But once I start looking around a little, I just get excited and think that person would be happy if someone buys their things because they love them.
