Praising Jesus! Thank You For Protecting My Family!

Let me begin by saying...........GOD IS GOOD! He took care of my family and protected them from very serious injury. I am more grateful than I could ever express. I have one daughter and one grandson....And........I LOVE them SOOOO much.

Yes, this would be my darling daughter's beautiful little car. We had asked my daughter and grandson to come for dinner for the Fourth of July.....she said "no, I hate to drive on the Fourth, there are too many drunks on the road, we'll just stay home". About 7 in the evening they decided to go about a mile down the road to pick up a pizza. It was sooo hot here yesterday and she didn't want to cook.

They were driving down a main road when some complete idiot blew through the stop sign and slammed into the side of my family's car. His license had been suspended and he had NO insurance. Great. He was 25 and two young girls in the car. It could have been so much worse, but my daughter caught sight of him flying toward her and managed to swerve a bit.

My grandson is a BIG kid and legal to sit in the front seat......he was RIGHT there....

As I've shared before, my son-in-law was killed in a car accident six years ago....leaving my daughter to parent the little guy by herself. It hasn't been easy, but she kept going for him.

My little guy was beside himself. Dodi gave him the phone to talk to me from the accident......so I could calm him while she talked to the police. He was terrified. When the accident happened a lady came flying out her house to check on them and my little guy told her right away about his dad. That just breaks my heart.

Bless his little heart. He told me that talking to me had helped him a lot, but he still had a little bit of scare left in him. I love him so much...

I went right over to comfort both of them and my little guy just kept telling me not to squeeze him too hard he was "sick"....and did vomit. He didn't look like himself at all, so we took him to the ER to have him checked out.

They said he was fine, it was probably too much fear for him to handle under the circumstances.

I stayed overnight and when I went to leave today, my little guy told me it was too soon to go, I'd only stayed ONE night......

The driver told the officers that he was probably going about 10-15 miles an hour...well, it looks like the frame of her car is bent and my daughter said he was flying....and didn't brake at all.

So....here we are. A single Mom....struggling to get by......with what looks like replacement of her car on her hands now. I'm so furious with this driver...........He actually told the officers..........I HAVE BEEN HAVING BRAKE TROUBLE!...........WHAT? And, you went out and risked lives? So caviler about human life? WHY?

What is wrong with some people? I'm sorry to blab on here, but I'm so ANGRY!....How DARE he risk my family's lives? Or anyone else's???

And, now he's left my daughter to pick up the pieces.

Please pray for them. They're both pretty beat up and very sore. And, for me. I know I should forgive him, but right now, I'm just not feeling very forgiving.

I'm so thankful that I know YOU WILL pray for them!

Hugs to all.

The Mommy...

PS.....I just talked to my daughter........she said my little guy has been walking around all day asking how that guy could have hit their car.........and that he kept hearing the accident in his head. My heart is breaking for my family. This has brought up so much of the old stuff for my little guy....my daughter has her "mommy" pain dealing with his emotions and her own re-living of those horrible days six years ago.

My daughter didn't realize she doesn't have rental car insurance on her uninsured motorist policy so it will cost her about 1,000 per month to rent a car until they sort this all out. She doesn't happen to HAVE an extra 1,000 per month.

I covet your prayers and want to thank you all for your precious messages. I'm constantly amazed by the blogging world. Such a loving, caring and uplifting group of women. I love you all........thank you.

And, through it all..........God is still in control.

  1. So glad they were both alright! I am sure the police will eventually figure out what really happened. And of course, he has no insurance....typical!

  5. I am so glad God protected them both and also the Driver of the other car and the 2 young girls with him. We never know when we leave home how we will return. I hope they can make him pay something to help with the replacement vehicle.

  6. Hi Spencer.. I'm so sorry to hear this happened, but am happy to hear your daughter and grandson are ok! I tell you, there is absolutely something to be said about instincts. I had similar instincts before I sat behind the wheel of my car once, and then later found out I should have listened to them! I listen better NOW, and I'm sure she will too! Again, thank God everyone is o.k. At this very moment, dear Daughter felt like going on a long drive to a friend's house, on one of the worst weekends of all weekends, and I am just WAITING for her to get HOME now! I'll breathe a big sigh of relief when she gets here!

  7. Dear God in Heaven, Spencer! Thank God they are okay, just shook up. I swear some days you want to just shake the tar out of people & the way they think ... 'having brake problems ...' come on, pal! Your daughter's insurance will probably take care of it & she can take him to court for expenses, also. So glad they are ok. God bless you all ... 9. Oh Man! I bet you were scared, furious, and grateful all at the same time. Don't you just wish you could knock that guy smack in the face! I'm sure it would make you feel so much better! I'm so glad your daughter and grandson are safe and soon to be whole again. I pray it doesn't leave any lasting emotional scars on them. God Bless!

  11. I know it's a hard thing to have happen to you and your loved ones, sweets, but it sounds like they are being protected very well by the Lord. Just be grateful that it wasn't as bad as it could have been. You'll be in my prayers tonight, sugar! I bet the little guy was so shaken up after that one for sure. As long as they are fine don't stress over it, honey. Bless your sweet heart for being there for that child!

  12. I am so glad they are both OK. However, the little guy is probably traumatized. This is an awful lot for your daughter to handle, I will keep you all in our prayers.

  13. I just feel so bad about this. Your poor grandson. That is very traumatic for a little one. That jerk (I will call him a jerk, although I would like to call him something else) is so self-absorbed in himself that he has very little regard for any other human being. Unfortunately that is how a good part of that generation thinks. I will say a prayer this evening before going to bed for your precious grandson and daughter.

  16. Thinking of you and yours, Spencer. They WERE being watched over. The young always bounce back easier and faster than we think, so hopefully your grandson's fright will be over soon. xoxo Sue

  17. Spencer, I'm so sorry this happened to your daughter and grandson. It seems some people always weasle out of trouble leaving the innocent to clean up after their thoughtless acts. I hope she can get some help from the insurance company. I'm just so glad they are ok physically. Try to get them to focus on the positive not the "what ifs". Let them know they are in our thoughts and prayers.

  18. Oh, prayers for your daughter and grandson, but they had their angels riding on their shoulders. So blessed that neither were physically hurt other than bumps and soreness, but prayers for their mental anquish over the accident. You have every right to be upset, that is very scary. I'll be sending up prayers for your loved ones.

  21. Dear Spencer,

I just got a chance to catch up on my reading and I am so sorry for this terrible accident invoving your daughter and little guy. It seem that so often when these accidents occur it is caused by these people with no sense, and no insurance.

I am so grateful that they were not seriously injured! So sorry about the car! Argh!

I had not known of your son-in-law until now. I am so sorry for their little family. Praying for you all!

    Hugs, Bonnie

How horrifying for all of you.... I am so sorry. I don't mean to sound like your typical "Old Geezer" but someone should take some licenses away from some of these kids!!

  23. Hello Spencer. I was going to Thank You for commenting on my blog yesterday, but after reading what happen my heart goes out to your Daughter and her Son. I will keep them in my prayers. My Son was hit by a speeding truck years ago and I know all the pain and suffering that can come from something like this. He still suffers from neck pain every now and than, but is fine. What alot of people don't realize that this is only the beginning. Dealing with the insurance company is a long and painful deal. Your Daughter may want to contact her minister and see if he can help your grandson with what happen. It is just a thought. I hate to see alittle child go through more pain than he as too. It may help your Daughter to talk to. God Bless you all.

  24. Spencer,
I am relieved that your daughter and grandson are not physically injured. Careless, thoughless drivers are always out there and no matter what we do to protect outselves, they are always lurking.
So glad that they are doing ok, unfortunately will have to deal with dredging up of all of the old emotions again.
Prayers & bug hugs to you and your family!!

  25. Oh my goodness! I sure wish I lived closer, I would loan her our extra car. I know the Lord will make a way (and I will be sure to pray that he does!) and my heart goes out to this little family struggling along without their husband and father, and how they lost him in a similar circumstance. I've been in a similar accident and you DO hear the accident over and over in your head when you lay down to sleep at night. And it's scary to go out and get on the road again, too, because you're watching everything way closer than you did before the accident. This guy that hit your daughter ought to have the book thrown at him! PLEASE let me know what we can do....if you decide to do a fundraiser of some sort, I'd be more than happy to help! (((HUGS))) to your daughter and grandson.
    XOXO

  27. I am sorry that my first visit to your blog was to see this post...but how grateful to have had the protection needed to prevent them both from serious injury! God is always good, whether a death is the result or not. His plan is always for our good, although not always within our understanding! My prayers are with your daughter and grandson. I hope they will have peace about the experience soon! How frightening it must have been for you all!

Thanks you for stopping by my blog and leaving a comment! I will be back to visit again...

  28. Dearest Spencer,
Thank God everyone is alright; I have been hit twice by people who didn't look where they were going. Yes, it makes us angry! I pray that you will find peace and allow for God to do a work in you. Give your little one a big hug!!! Anita

  29. Thank God they are both alright, but what a scare for all of you! I'm so sorry this happened to them. I hope they will get some counseling to help them through this tragedy. I had a bad car wreck years ago and had to have counseling, because, like your grandson, every time I got into a car, I heard that crash in my head and my hair stood on end, and I couldn't drive. I can just imagine that if I felt that way (and hadn't previously lost a loved one in a car accident), this must be much more difficult for them to go through. I'm adding them (and you) to my prayer list now, and I will be keeping them in my prayers. laurie

  30. After losing his father in a traffic accident..it is no wonder he was traumatised!
I know you are grateful that it wasn't any worse and that other then being shaken up and some bruises, all is well.
The forgiveness part is for you...not the man who made the mistake. I know your heart is a big forgiving one and God will guide you in right thought!
    Hugs,

  31. Oh Sweet Spencer, I have tried to get on your blog and haven't been able to until now. There must be some kind of a blogger issue. It has kept me from commenting and even pulling up certain blogs.

I am so sorry for your daughter and grandson. I am appalled, too, by people's lack of responsibility when it comes to driving. I thank God almost every day for the safety we have had on the road. I know your grandma's heart is heavy, and I want you to know that I will be praying for your family, and the rental car situation.

It might help the little guy if your daughter prayed with him about replaying the accident in his mind, and asking God to protect his thoughts. Just a suggestion.

I'm so glad they have you to lean on. You seem to be very compassionate and giving.

    Love, hugs and prayers,
    Becky

  34. Hi Just came across your site so sorry about the accidents your family has faced. I was hit two years ago from behind by a man reading a paper and not watching the road! I've had a spinal fusion and have a trial set for September. He said as always, he was stopped and his foot slipped, yeah right! He hit me about 35 mph and was gonna leave. Now I feel like I am being tortured and hes the guilty one. My back and legs will never be the same! I hope the little guy will be ok, I know how we as adults are afraid after a accident, and God knows hoe the little one must feel. Lori
