Sweet, sweet girlie friends.....
I'm so glad you're here!
Have I told you lately how special you are to me?
Well, YOU are. :-)
Today I'm dreaming that.....
Hmmmmmmmm........Ok.....I reviewed my list........it's pretty silly on second thought.
Today I am remembering how blessed I am and how grateful I am that I have a relationship with Jesus.
My sweet wonderful friend Sheila (aka Mrs. Magpie) sent me the MOST wonderful message....it uplifted me and gave me a whole new perspective.
In a nutshell....
I LOVE Jesus. I know He's with me ALL the time...
But this really impacted me. You know how you can KNOW something, but not really KNOW it?
Am I making sense?
Anway, my friend Sheila said that God's her BFF.....that she talks to Him all day.......oh how I wish I could explain this better. I TALK to God all day....and praise HIM alllll day....but this is different. Say you're driving along in the car and you're chatting with God exactly like you would if your Mum were there. Say you're picking out a new pair of shoes and you were to confer with God...."say....what do you think of these?.....Do you like the red ones better"? Hmmmmm...."thinking of dinner tonite....what do you think.....lasagna or roast"?....
Oh what a difference that made to me. I had just never quite thought of it like that before. A DIFFERENT kind of a closeness. What joy that brought to my heart.
I can't wait to take God shopping!
I am having an awesome day.....just God and Me...
Sooooo.......just disregard my list of dreams....THIS is my big dream after all.
God and I have things to do today, so we've gotta run!
I love you all.
God said "I love all of you too".

Oh and PS....another snippet of wisdom from the WONDERFUL Mrs. Magpie?
When I said how much I was missing my Mum she told me that God is just like having a Mum only BETTER and a DAD tooo.......and that I should buy a gift for MYSELF from my MUM for each holiday. Something she would have bought for me if she were here....with NO guilt. Isn't that soooo sweet? My MUM would LOVE that. And, she'd tell me to do it too....... :-)
Oh and PSSSSS........have you been over to see my sweet Sheila?
You really must go meet her. What a wonderful gal.

And.....I'm so happy to be OLDER THAN DIRT!!! More on that later.
I'm so glad you're here!
Have I told you lately how special you are to me?
Well, YOU are. :-)
Today I'm dreaming that.....
- My car doesn't have mud splatters covering one entire side.
- My Christmas shopping was finished.
- It would stop raining for maybe two days?
- I could find my e-mail contacts and my missing e-mail.
- Someone would water the plants on my front porch.
- I didn't have anywhere to go today.

This is a beautiful , wonderful post. sometimes we forget that Jesus is always with us. I remember so many, {don't ask ! ha} in youth group , one day they discussed how we should base all our choices everyday on the fact that Jesus is with us..... what music to listen to , shows to watch, people to hang with, etc. the list goes on... and it's true ,not so many years ago I was in a very happy , spiritual spot with my Lord and I can remember driving down the road and thinking I was in a holy car because God was with me. True! I went to work that day and told all my friends I rode to work in the holy bus!! (I drive big suv:) and I did!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing this post, I hope my comment made sense. Blessings always!
Gwen

Spencer, I love this post! I too talk to God all day long AND I DO take Him shopping with me. It make's all the difference in a person's life to have a close relationship with our God. Some might think it over the top to talk and confer with Him on everything, I just think it's beautiful!
ReplyDeleteHugs,
June
What a great post! It is very uplifting and I like the way Sheila describes talking to God all day.
ReplyDeleteI'm coming up to a BIG birthday - so how old is "older than dirt" - just so I'll know. ;-)
Wonderful post Spencer! Isn't it amazing that people in this cyber world can open our eyes and make us see everything in a new way? I'm gaining so much through my blogging - the wonderful people I've met; the ideas they've shared; and the faith in God they've shown! You're right. It's a wonderful day! laurie
ReplyDeleteOH cool you're older than dirt too!! How exciting me too! hehe I will be tomorrow! How sweet you had a great message! I too was blessed by my blog friends today and of course God is Good! Have a super wonderful day my sweet friend!
ReplyDeleteHugs, Lisa
Some time or other...over at RMS, I am thinking, I fell in love with your little cottage and the sign you had on it. I kept a photo in my files for a couple of years.
ReplyDeleteThen, it seems I lost you. I've also lost the photo I saved so long.
I love The Magpie, too...she is a sweetie..
xo bj
Spencer, your post today was precious! I remember when that same light bulb went on for me...it gave me a freedom I had not known before...I talk with Him constantly, because He's always there to listen to me, whether I'm rambling or just thinking about something...He knows! And the beauty is that He speaks to me, too...His words of wise counsel, caution, approval, whatever I need whenever I need it. You can't beat a Father like that!
ReplyDeleteGod bless,
Mary
Spencer - it's late and I'm going to bed - your post is going to be on my mind as I go to sleep. Great post.
ReplyDeleteI love Shelia she's one of my daughters so Of course I would...glad your having an awesome day my dear friend....hugs and smiles Gl♥ria
ReplyDeleteAmen! My God is closer than a brother or mother!
ReplyDeleteI like that idea about buying something your mom would have bought for you. Brought tears to my eyes. I think I'll do that, too. ♥
Good morning my precious friend,
ReplyDeleteYES! This is a truth that I often forget...when I miss my mum, I am reminded that GOD is my mother and father and sister and brother and everything else in between. Thank HIM for friends that remind us, just like you reminded me just now. May He bless your entire life my dear. ANita
I am up before dawn on a cold, rainy morning and trying to be very, very quite. What better way to spend my time than by finding great blogs like yours? Such a beautiful post! I had a great time going back through some of your older posts too.
ReplyDeleteG'morn sweet Spencer ~ This is soooo what I do all day long ... He & I talk & walk together in all I say & do & we have had some wonderful moments sharing. Once I had a total stranger (man) approach me & he said 'you talk & pray all day with God'. I about flipped! I was so surprised that anyone other than myself, knew or could sense this.
ReplyDeleteYou are very special, Spencer ... so thoroughly enjoyed.
I don't know why I didn't notice this before but your Mother joined Jesus the same day only 10 years later than my Mother ... weren't they lucky to be home for His birth day celebration.
Hugs, TTFN ~ Marydon

Great advice.......
ReplyDeleteI am so glad I stopped by, I have been grumpy lately and not feeling like doing anything.
Now I know I have to snap out of it and let God guild me!
Hugz, Dolly
come by and visit sometime!
Spencer, you are the sweetest one, and I can't tell you how blessed I feel to have been able to have this discussion with you. And it's funny, but it was my sweet mother that really was the catalyst for this revelation for me. When I was a little bitty magpie, she taught me the catechism (all little Presbyterians are supposed to know this), and we would go over each question and each answer, all based on the Scriptures. Drilling and drilling. And for some reason a while back, I was reminded of the catechisim when someone asked in a discussion... "What is the purpose of man?" Except in our questions it would read... "What is the chief end of man?"
ReplyDeleteAnd the answer is... "The chief end of man is to glorfiy God and to enjoy Him forver!" My mother was a good "driller" because that has been in my head for a looooooong time now. ;-)
Anyhow, I never had trouble understanding the first part. After all, you glorify God through song, through prayer, through praise, and through living according to His Word, but to ENJOY Him??? And to enjoy Him FOREVER??? That put a whole new spin on things. Then I started thinking... He wants me to actually enjoy His company, to take Him with me all day long, to be His FRIEND as well as His child. To walk with Him and talk with Him like all the songs say. But even more important, he wants me to do this in the fun times as well as those times when I need him desperately to hold my hand. He longs for me to have a warm, personal relationship with Him just like I had with my parents. And that's when the light bulb went off in my head. Okay, God, you already know what I'm thinking, but I'm going to talk to you and tell you everything and just share it ALL and ask you what YOU think. I want this to be a two-way street and a BFF thing! And it is that and so much more. That's the real joy in life because it's God and God alone who can fill those holes in our lives that we desperately try to fill with everything else. He is our heart's desire, the star to every wandering bark!
Oh, don't even get me started. I could really wax on and on about how much I love Him. LOL! Maybe I'll post about it some day as well.
Love you, Spencer, and have FUN with God!
XO,
Sheila :-)
Oh Spencer! Thank you so much for sharing Sheila's sunshine with us! She is an absolute delight as are you my spirited friend!! I love how you talk to us when you blog! I feel like we're ol' time buddies!!
ReplyDeleteJesus is the absolute best, isn't He?? He loves us just as we are...no make-up or masks needed!! It just doesn't get any better than that now, does it?
Have a delightful weekend, sweetie! You made my day sparkle!!
Love
Becky
Mrs. Magpie has more than just shiny objects up her sleeve. She is quite wise isn't she? I've only recently met her and feel like I've known her for a long time.
ReplyDeleteLove the little pink bike photo too!
