Ta Da!!! And, Here's The Finished Slipcover!

Is it Wednesday already?  Wow....time does fly, doesn't it?

I hope your week's gotten off to a great start sweet girlies!

As promised......FINALLY.....the post on the den desk chair slipcover.....

Man, that's one ugly chair, isn't it?  Yep, that's what I thought.......how have I lived with this darn thing for about five years you ask?

Heck if I know......you know how you just become accustomed to looking at something?....Then one day you look again...........horrified there's something so disgusting in your home?

Ok.........you probably don't, but I sure do.

I had a little desk that I just loved, but something was just "off"....well Spencer, have you noticed the pulls are UGLY?

See, that's what I mean.     :-)

Enter a lovely (ok, not lovely......but CHEAP) dropcloth, some cording a stencil, a couple of vintage buttons and we're off.........

Now, things are starting to come together.....
I'll put a little pillow on it too........I should have done that for the photo, but totally forgot.  It would have been so much more smashing, don'tcha think?

 Profile view....    :-)

Curvy little gal, isn't she?

Ahhhhhhhhh...........I saved the best 'til last.  Isn't that cute?  Do you really think so?

You know how all of the packaging now is that hard plastic stuff?  Well, Tightwad Tillie here saves allllllllll of it.  (That's why you'll NEVER see pix of my garage.......SCARY).........anyway, I found a cute little fleur de lis on the net, copied it and traced it onto a piece of that 'ol plastic cut it out and stenciled this little cutie onto the back piece of my slipcover.  Then I stitched around it to puff it up a smidge...

I'm a girlie who loves details........so I added this little do-hickey with buttons too.

And, since my chair will usually be pushed into the desk, this is what will show.

I'm happy to check one more thing off of my list.  Now, tomorrow it's onto the curtains.  I've been procrastinating forever on those.......but the time has come to cut into that fabric and go for it.

Measure twice, cut once.  Boy, that's some good advice!  Glad I reminded myself of it.

I'm always afraid to mess things up.

But I'm going for it.

Tomorrow.

Really, I am.

Ok, girlies........I'm going to go to bed now so I can get up bright and early and get to it.

Huggies and Lovies,
Spence

  8. Thanks for popping by my blog! I have a thing about French things so love that you included a fleur de lys on the back of your new slipcover! I've never thought of making a slipcover for my desk's chair & now you have me thinking! Sadly, I have so many projects to complete before the slipcloth that I may never get there! But I do admire yours! Thanks for posting!

  9. Happee Wednesday morning to you cupcake!! WOOHOO gal...you made that chair look like a million bucks!! But then it seems that everything you touch becomes beautiful!! So when are you going to come to Florida and work your magic in my home??!! ;o)

You do inspire me, Spencer, I gotta tell you! Now if I could only find a slot of time to follow through with that inspiration!!! Where does the time go anyway??

Hope your day is grand and that you know that you are SO appreciated and loved!!

  10. Oh Spencer sweetie...
This is top of the line gorgeous. Eye candy beautiful. You had better not let Sissie see this, she will be over there wheeling it home. Oh my gosh, she fleur-de-lis everything, even baby shoes. She will love this.

You did an awesome job. When you decide on a pillow for the chair, Spencer you should also add a fleur de lis to it. It would be so devine.

Love it, as always you do such beautiful work. What an element of surprise to your work station.

Thank you for sharing sweetie. It was so worth the wait. Country hugs...Sherry

  57. I do have one of those chairs. When my son went to college, I hid it in the storage room. (That's our "garage"!)

Excellent redo. I have so much ruffling planned I'm hoping to get an attachment. Definitely coming back for the slipcover tutorial from before soon. I may just have to do this chair, too.

    Great job!!!

What an amazing transformation! You have inspired me to spruce up my ugly office chairs...and I have three of them in my "workroom". Two came from the Salvation Army, so they are truly vintage METAL type chairs. They don't make em like that anymore! :)

Hope you have had a terrific week! Dana

  69. You wrote this post just for me, didn't you?!! Earlier today (probably just an hour ago) I was looking at the same style chair that my husband has at his desk...which is in our living room. It reminds me of something that belongs in a cubicle, and not a home...and I was wondering if I could slip-cover it...and then I see this lovely beauty that you made! You have inspired me!!! Thanks for the wonderful idea!

  76. Spencer, I peeped at this when I was racing around the last time I came for a visit, but now that I have time, I just have to tell you it's ADORABLE! You did a super job on this slipcover, and I love the details on the back. You know the French in me loves that Fleur de lis. SO neat! And I love the "doohickey" as you call it. You are so talented. I wish I could do these kind of things. I feel so inept. LOL! But I love seeing what my talented friends do. Super duper job, my friend!

    Love ya...
