Hey Chickies!
Oh my... I really didn't realize I'd been away for so long. YIKES!
I know I say this allllll the time, but things have been ever so busy around here.
My grandson has been here for the better part of the summer......and I really wanted to be able to spend LOTS of time with him. What a great little guy he is.... and the JOY of my heart.
As I've said before, he has Asperger's syndrome. We bought him a brand new bike about five years ago and he refused to ride it........or the very expensive one his Mom bought for him either.
Wouldn't even get on it. It seems kids with Asperger's have trouble with balance. Well, he's 11 now and I kept thinking if he was big enough for his feet to touch the ground he might give it a try..... and it wouldn't seem so intimidating to him. Hmmmm.... that little conversation went nowhere until I said I'd pay him to try. I guess that little nudge was just what he needed.
You know what? He LOVES it. I am so happy I can't begin to tell you. It was a huge milestone for him.
It made this Grandma weep with joy..... and weep, and weep, and weep.
My daughter bought him a new, bigger bike and she had a boy's bike that she used to ride that works fine for him when he's here. He rides like the wind!
My Hubbs rides about 1,000 miles every year, so he'll have a great riding partner now.
Isn't God so faithful.
I am grateful beyond measure.
So, that darling little tote?
Yes, I was the winning chickie in the giveaway over at The Smith Hotel.
I so wish I had taken a picture of the adorable packaging. But, I am NOT a patient girlie... I just ripped the darn thing open I so could see that cute little tote.... all wrapped up with a black and white striped ribbon and that cute little posie.
Thank you so much Jody.... I LOVE it!
Well, if you don't, you NEED to meet this darling girlie.
Marydon was one of the first chickies I "met" in Bloggyville, several years ago. We've chatted back and forth many times........and I always thought she was such a sweetheart.
Well, last summer there was a chance that she'd get to Washington to visit some relatives here, but, alas, it didn't work out.
She contacted me several months ago, to say she'd be coming and would love to meet...... well, I was "in" at HELLO.... and couldn't wait to meet her. Actually the very first bloggy chickie I've met!
She called on Sunday morning to confirm the time we had planned.........the minute I heard her voice I knew I'd love her. She is CHARMING and DEAR. We had a ball.......she was on a really tight time "budget" so we only had an hour, but I could have spent all day chatting with her.........and her dear hubby.
They've invited us to come to Maryland for a visit, and by golly, we're going to try to work that out!
Thank you, Marydon and Harold for taking time out of your busy schedule to stop by. We enjoyed every minute.......and we're looking forward to getting to know you both better.
By the way........I would be the short one.....and don't even think I haven't been wondering how much dust there was above my head level........well, there was plenty below too, but we don't want to talk about that, right? :-)
It's raining here, in the Pacific Northwest, today..... I wanted to take a picture of the darling little cup and saucer Marydon brought for me, but light has been crummy all day. I'll try to post that as soon as we get some sunshine.
Have a wonderful evening girls!

Spencie that is the best news about your little grandson! Every step is a major one when you have a grandchild that is some challenges. Believe me I do know this with my little Hazie. She will be four next month and she is the size of a small two year old. So adorable! And she gets so frustrated when people call her a baby! She is a big girl now! they are just so delightful aren't they? Nice to see you here. I know what you mean about being busy. I have been gone many weeks this summer. Loving your music as always.
ReplyDeleteLove, Bonnie
What a lovely story! Im so happy to hear that you went so far with your Grandson, teaching children is always a joy, as is meeting bloggy friends! ;)
ReplyDeleteHugs,
My daughter who is 10 just learned how to ride a bike without training wheels. We sold her old little bike at a garage sale last year- we had given up any hope that she would even try to ride. Now my hubby is trying to find parts to build her a bike that fits her. So happy you like your prize!
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Jody

How wonderful your ca-ching made all the difference in the world for gr-son to ride. This is such a fabulous event for him. Tell him we are very proud of him.
ReplyDeleteOh, mercy, sweet Spencer! I've been dancing on clouds ever since we met! That was one of the few BEST HOURS I've ever spent. You are just gorgeous & have a darling personality. I could have spent days never moving from that spot, just chatting away. Thank you so much for the beautiful gifts. I'll do a post in a couple days. We were literally 'screaming' into Portland for the plane ... chuckle. Never did a trip so tight before, lmty. Your husband is a keeper, Harold truly enjoyed him. YAY!, you are coming back. I can hardly wait. We missed the earthquake, durnnit! Now we have Hurricane Irene hitting us between Fri/Sat so taking care of 'things' before she arrives.
Huggers of love, my precious friend ~
