Lake Quinault Lodge

Hey Chickies!

Don't you just love a nice little get-away?  My darling husband and I just spent a few days at the Lake Quinault Lodge in the Olympic Rain Forest...  Washington State.

It is SO beautiful!

And, restful.  Let me just say, if you love a nice little vacation with a bit of shopping thrown in...  this is NOT your dream destination.

It's in the MIDDLE of NOWHERE...  REALLY!  There is nothing for miles...  well, except the gift shop in the lodge and a little market thing across the street...  that is if it's still even there.  I didn't pay any attention.    :-)

This is the one trip that we take just to REST.

And look at views like these....

And sit by the enormous roaring fire and read....

I did a little bit of embroidery..  I'm LOVING it again after not doing any for YEARS!  But, it's small and easy to take and restful in it's repetitiveness.

The little restaurant at the lodge is beyond yummy.......  The BEST fish and chips ever and we ALWAYS have the planked salmon.  I've never had better anywhere.

We met a couple from Scotland.  It was so much fun to listen to them talk.  I must admit sometimes I couldn't quite get the gist of what they were saying.  They use different expressions than we do.  Darling little couple though.

We've been to this destination many, many times....  and, in fact, I still Facebook and email a lovely gal I met there YEARS ago.

My husband's from Hawaii (they are big time friendly people)...  he'll chat with anybody and EVERYBODY.

While we were visiting with the Scottish couple we also chatted for a little bit with another couple...  they left and drove some 120 miles to see something they'd planned and when they got back we were STILL sitting in the exact spot talking to the SAME Scottish couple FIVE hours later.  They thought it was hilarious.

Yes, I admit it.  I.can.talk.

I hope you did something fun and restful this weekend too!

Sending big huggies and lovies from the Cottage..

  4. My son and his bride were married there, outside in the grassy area, on a beautiful July afternoon. I've never seen anything more beautiful. They danced outside and the flower girls rand barefoot...it was lovely. I can't wait to go back and just relax.

  6. What a perfect sort of get-away. I'm not a big shopper so talking, reading by the fire. Perfection!

  9. Good Morning ! This is my first time to your blog, and I was enjoying it very much, so I decided to click on the "My Story" button with your baby pic on the side bar. (Partly because that baby pic looks so much like my baby pics !) I just want to tell you what an inspirational story you have.....I have been feeling a little down and sorry for myself lately - I 've just been diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis (I'm 56) and have been in some pain while the Docs try to figure out the meds.....after I read your story, with your amazing attitude of not feeling down or sorry for yourself - I told myself that with all you've been through in your life - you still seem to optimistic and loving life so much. I am going to try and be optimistic and hopeful like you are - and to stop whining and feeling sorry for myself...Thank you ! You have helped me today more than you could know......
