And, Time Passes

Ten years ago today my son-in-law went to be with Jesus.

He was so much fun...  a great sense of humor, a really hard worker and most of all, for a grandma?  An awesome father.  It was wonderful watching him be a parent.  A carefree guy who didn't really seem like "dad" material....  But OH MY...  did he ever surprise me.  So tender and sweet with his boy.  And all he really wanted to do was be with his child.

We still miss you Mike.  Always will.

Just Thinking.....

Oh my dear girlies....

I've been one busy chickie lately and have been such a lousy blogger.

I'm up to my eyeballs in projects, so I'll try to post and visit as often as I can while I'm making the 'ol cottage pretty.

I've MISSED you!

I was thinking, this morning...........I'm the EXACT same age my dad was when he passed away.

I was 27 then and he was nearly 60.

I can remember thinking that he was soooo old.

Well, now I'm not exactly thinking that.

He had cancer and declined over two years. I went to see him every single day.

I learned to do needlepoint while I sat with him. I finished one project and have never been able to pick up another piece since then.

Now that I'm approaching that SIX-O milestone I'm realizing how much he still had to do.

He had worked so hard for sooo many years and was getting ready to retire........to spend time with family and relax a bit.

My daughter was the ABSOLUTE joy of his life. She adored him and he was crazy about her. She was only seven when he went to heaven. I realize now how many things he's missed.

And, the things about my dad that my daughter's missed.

I hope I'm around for a long time. I soooo want to see my little grandson grow up.

Time is so relative, isn't it?

My daughter is the same age I was when she graduated from high school.

She thought I was soooo old then.

And, my little grandson is the same age I was when my favorite grandma passed away. I was crazy about her. She was the PERFECT grandma. I think I was actually only with her four or five times in my entire life, she lived so far away. But, I felt her love.

I told my girl recently that she was nearly the same age I was when her dad and I got divorced after 21 years of marriage..........she couldn't believe it.

She thought I was ancient.....but she is sooo young! :-)

I'm thinking about you dear ones.......and praying for you too.

God bless each and every one of you sweeties.

Lovies and huggies,

Spencer

Oh How I LOVED My Auntie Frannie.... :-)

My parents moved from Michigan to the Northwest before I was born. Several years later my uncle (my dad's brother) and Auntie Frannie moved out here too. Neither family knew anyone here so we were a tight knit little group.

My Auntie Frannie and Uncle Karl had five kids and money was VERY, VERY tight.

Christmas came and the only thing I really wanted was a Barbie wedding dress.

My sweet Auntie with allllll of those little kids made me the wedding dress on the right that Christmas.

I can still remember how thrilled I was and that was FIFTY years ago. I have treasured it all of these years......even then I knew how much love had gone into it and I tear up just writing about it.

One year my Mum was in the hospital on my birthday. All six of the little pack were outside playing and my Auntie wouldn't let me come into the house. I couldn't figure out why I was banned, but I was. Several hours later she surprised me with the sweetest little birthday party and a yummy cake.

I always felt welcome and loved at their house. It was almost like another set of parents.

She was such a treasure and I loved her so much.

She passed away from Cancer about ten years ago.........about ten years after my uncle. Their sweet daughter (my favorite cousin) passed away about three years ago. All from Cancer. Cancer killed my dad as well. That's a lot of cancer for one little family, I think.

I hope you have an Auntie that you love and who loves YOU!

Bless your little pea-pickin' hearts.

Huggies and Lovies,
Spencer
