It's Beverly's Pink Saturday!

Thanks for popping in for a little visit. I LOVE having you. I am so enjoying the blog-world. You gals have been so welcoming to me and I've had so much fun getting to know you. I am blessed!

While I was at my daughter's caring for her I finished the final block for my quilt. It's all hand dyed wool, done in applique and beaded. I LOVE doing it. I did lots of this quilt while I was caring for my Mum......it holds a lot of memories. She was so proud. She picked out her favorite blocks and we chose a block to represent everyone in the family. There are 25 blocks and each one is different. I tried to take a picture of all of them, but it just DID NOT photograph very well. Maybe I'll try again before I put it together.

My darling daughter bought this box for me at an estate sale...........she LOVES a good estate sale.....not that I don't, I really do! I just feel sad for the folks who's life it represents.

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh........YES! The summer shoe wardrobe. I'm crazy about flip-flops (my Darling Hubby is from Hawaii......they call them slippa's there).......at any rate they were so cheap and they have sparkles.......!!!!! I do love a good sparkle. Silver and pink. That should go with almost everything I wear. I have lots of other sparkly ones too. :-)

I got this picture somewhere on the internet.....maybe Rate My Space??? ....quite a while ago. I love this little cottage. It's just too darn cute, isn't it? If it's your house let me know so I can give you credit! :-)

Yesterday I posted about estate sales.........A wonderful gal in our area posts pictures of upcoming sales which is really quite nice. What if you get up at four to get there and then find out they don't have anything you'd want to haul home??? Well, a couple of years ago she posted the plate and bowl on her site. They were actually at two different sales. I wanted them both soooo badly. I got up early, drove a mighty long way and hoped I get them. Both times I wasn't even close to the front of the line.....probably number 20 or so.....and I still got them!!!!!! Aren't they so pretty? Yep, it was worth losing some sleep over these two beauties!

I hope you have a wonderful weekend. I appreciate you more than you'll ever know. Thanks again for coming!

Please go visit Beverly at www.howsweetthesound.typepad.com to see all the other lovelies! I can't believe some of the fabulous Pink Saturday posts. Get your coffee and kick back for some really good fun! :-)

Warm blessings!
Spencer

  6. I love estate sales. I agree with you, it IS sad. But, my husband and I have been considering moving to FL and We have SO much, we could easily have an estate sale to lighten up. We're only in our 50's so, maybe it's not always a sad reason. There have been several that I was anxious about getting a particular item, and it was there even though I was late. Now I get the state of mind, "if I'm supposed to have it, it'll be there". Sometimes I'm relieved to not find something at a sale, it means I can continue hunting!

  7. How absolutely wonderful! Beverly sure knew what she was doing when she created a place for all of us "pinkies" to congregate and share our "pinkness".

Happy Mother's Day to you. I hope you find yourself surrounded by those you love, good food, and a gentle peace in your ♥. We don't need to be a mother to know a mother's life. After all we all started out with a mom, didn't we?☺

  14. Love the cottage, too ... roof almost looks pink. Spencer, you have some exquisite items on your post ... love anything with roses. As a child we would gather rose petals & press them for 'perfume' ...

I know tomorrow will be an off day for you, but remember that mean pinochle game is going on hot & heavy up in Heaven.

    Hugs, Marydon

  28. Spencer, you are just a sweetheart a blessing straight from heaven.
How precious that quilt is holding such treasured memories, a quilt made with love. The trinket box that your daughter got for you is just so gorgeous as for the plate and bowl well they were indeed worth the effort you put in getting them it seems to me that God wanted to bless His sweet Princess by keeping them just for you. Here in aussie land we call flip-flops, thongs...hehe so many different names from all over the world.
I so enjoy visiting with you Spencer, I wish you a wonderful Mothers Day filled with love & laughter, Thank you for your beautiful encouraging heart.
    God bless you
    Hugs
    Melly:)

  29. Thanks so much for visiting me and leaving a lovely comment! You might have noticed I got addicted to blog backgrounds and buttons, lol.

LOVE what you got in your Estate sales - you seem to have The Eye and also to be very lucky (a great combination). Lucky you! Keep it up, can't wait to see your next "finds". Happy Pink Saturday!

  30. Nice to meet you, Spencer! I noticed that we like many of the same books. The Saving Graces inspired me to retire. Maybe because our school secretary told me to read it in December and I didn't have time until Spring break and by then our sweet secretary was diagnosed with terminal cancer.
I haven't regretted my retirement for a second!

  31. Hi Spencer!
I can't wait to see your quilt. You know, I used to feel sad too when I would purchase something from an estate sale but one day when my husband and I were at a sale, I was feeling hesitant on purchasing a lovely antique musical jewelry box and the previous owner had pinned many vintage brooches on the inside satin liner...long story short, the daughter of the auctioneer told me that people who purchase estate sale items were now the caretakers of those people's prized possessions. I thought that was a perfect way to look at the situation...lol!
