Ahhhhh.......Now THIS Is Really Silly Stuff!......

Happy Pink Turkey Saturday!!!

I hope all of you sweet little chickies had a wonderful week. :-)

I got a few errands done....now, one of things I dislike doing more than ANYTHING is to run errands. I used to love to do that kind of thing when I was a spring chicken....that was a LONG time ago!

But there are Thanksgiving preparations to tend to.

Isn't this Turkey Painting just lovely? Now, personally, I think turkeys are not among God's most glorious creatures, but Robyn Rognstad did an awesome job making this little fella cute, didn't she?

Ok...........I'm reallllly wondering how they managed this little guy?

I wonder.....do you think he'll be tastier? Surely so....being pink and all.

Whew.........when I did the Pink Turkey Google search there is sure a lot of information about not eating pink turkey.

No point in making yourself sick on the big feast day!

I forgot to make a note of the gal's store where these cute little gal t's can be purchased. Wouldn't this be a cute little outfit for Thanksgiving?

I remember when I was a little girl.........(absolutely no laughing...I DID used to be a little girl.............yep, a LONG time ago smarty pants).

Anyway.....my parents didn't have a lot of money and getting a new outfit for Thanksgiving wasn't something that happened. But one year, when I was about 7 or so I got up on Thanksgiving morning with my doll laying next to me in bed with a little white blouse, brown skirt and orange ribbon around her neck......and when my Mum told me to get dressed I had the exact outfit hanging in the closet. I can remember being soooo excited. That was so sweet. My Mum sewed a LOT, but had never made me a matching dolly outfit. It was a BIG day.

It seemed like I was sick on Thanksgiving when I was growing up more than I was healthy. Usually strep throat. That can really take some of the fun out of Turkey Day.

We always spent Thanksgiving with my Dad's brother and his family....They had five kids and it was so much fun to be with them. I adored my cousins and Aunt and Uncle.

My Auntie could cook like a dream..........but one year she made Pumpkin Pie from the Halloween Pumpkins....it was TERRIBLE. I was so disappointed. It was my favorite part of the holiday. AND she baked another pie too....CHERRY.....I realllly HATE cherry pie.

Too bad that wasn't one of the years I had strep throat.

So dear and sweet girlies.....I want to wish you and your families a wonderful, safe and tasty Thanksgiving.

God bless you!

Huggies and Lovies,
Spencer

  3. Oh now that was a great way to combine Pink Saturday and Thanksgiving my dearest!!! You are so imaginative! My mummy also sewed all my doll cloths and my own. I would come home from school and almost every day, there would be a new Barbie doll outfit laying across my bed, made out of little scraps that she had. I am thankful for having had such a great mum as well. God bless, Anita

  5. Spencer,
Your post is so funny. The turkey painting makes you see the turkey in a whole new light,
I think. But, the funniest is the pink turkey.
I think they grow those over at the Pink Farm,
or is that, the Funny Farm!
I can remember a few turkey dinners that I wish I could have stayed home sick to too, seems like there is an occassional disaster.
One year my nine year old brother begged to carry the turkey to the dinner table and when my Mom let him have the honors, he tripped and fell and the turkey went flying. We all giggled but Mother didn't.
Thanks for the memories. Have a Happy Pink Saturday.

  20. What great memories. I can imagine your excitement at the doll and new outfit. Pumpkin pie isn't my favorite, we have a pumpkin cake I like better. I hope you don't get strep throat anymore! Love all the pink turkeys too, what fun they are. I wonder if they are pink on the inside?!

  23. Hello you precious friend, you! Thank you for coming to my pink post! And your kind words! You know, I think in rhyme!!! It is just a quirk of mine! I read a lot of French poetry as well, so that has influenced my gravitational pull towards poetry! You are soooo kind. I am going to take some advice to put a white wash over the pink to shabby it up a bit, then I will share with you all what happened! Bisous, Anita

  24. Spencer,
Thank you so much for your sweet comments on my blog. Yes, I think spray glue would work just fine, that is of course, after I have learned the hard way!
I tried the spray on a few shells and it worked great and a lot less messy! Good idea!

  26. Great pink turkey post. I enjoyed your Thanksgiving outfit story - sweet. My Mom used to sew clothes for my Barbie dolls and all my Halloween costumes, but not my clothes.

We must share the same birthday year. I'm fifty nine too and thanks for letting me know that I'm "old as dirt". ;-)

  27. Spencer,
I love your story about how your mom made you a dress to match your dolls. That is so sweet! Was a picture taken? I remember having the flu one thanksgiving as a child, big bummer. We always went to my Grandparents, all the cousins were there and we would all spend the weekend. Those are some of the best memories I have. Your pink turkeys are too cute to eat. Blessings!

  28. Thank you for sharing your memories! My mom can sew anything and made so many wonderful things for her little girls - a nice reminder for me to take a moment to tell her I remember and say thank you.

  33. Your post was just toooooo cute! I loved the PINK turkeys, but I reallllllly loved the memories you shared about Thanksgiving as a child. OMG...what a grand day that surely was when your mum surprised you with the matching outfits for you and your doll! I also recall one of us in our family ALWAYS being sick on T-Giving! It was usually one of us three kids, but many times it was my mom. I really miss her. She passed away 6 years ago, on the day after T-giving! She was the glue that held our family together...and my best friend.

I hope you have a great T-Giving celebration!
