Whew.... the Garage Sale is over and I think I can actually re-join the world.
They're so much work and it's a bit overwhelming. We're not the kind of Garage Sale-ers that throw some things out on the grass with no prices and call it good... We try to set it up nicely, with everything priced.... some pretty music and hopefully with everything clean.
That's a LOT of work.
I don't mind........usually..........because I generally make about 500 dollars.
Well......it just wasn't so great this year.
Total take? $150.
Darn it all.
But, I did get to visit for three whole days with one of my very bestest friends....which is always a great time.....so all was not lost. And, isn't $150 better than nothin'???
Do you think the crummy economy is even affecting garage sales?
Hmmmm.
I did get some great photos of my sweet friends yard.....it's soooo yummy. I'll come back tomorrow to share those with you. You will love it. :-)
Hope all is well with you sweeties.

Oh, and PS... Jan and I did swap a LOT of stuff. It's hilarious. I think my "take" would have been quite a bit higher, but I did find some great things. I'll share that with you too.

$150 is totally better than nothing...and it is so fun to do a garage sale with a friend, sit and chat and swap stuff with each other. You would have done that for free anyways! Good Job!
ReplyDeletethat's $150 you didn't have last week... I'll call that success!!
ReplyDeleteHello there precious...you are so good to be organized that way. I am one of those THROW IT OUT in the ally, put up some signs around town, and have a chunk 'a change in my pocket and get the show on the road....I usually make enough to make it worth it! I DO THINK the economy is affecting even garage sales!!!!I look forward to seeing your friend's yard!!! Anita
ReplyDeleteHalf the fun of having a garage sale is the anticipation. I dislike garage sales that you have to constantly ask the price. In fact I have gone from them just for that reason.
ReplyDeleteSo glad you enjoyed it!!
Marilyn
I think you did very well, but I know how much work having a sale is. Better luck next time!
ReplyDeleteXO,
Jane
Yes, the economy is affecting garage sales. Mine wasn't very good either and I'll have another one this fall as I MUST get the garage cleaned out!
ReplyDeleteDeb :)
Ahhh GS arent what they used to be.. most of the stuff deserves the trash nowadays. Too bad, but I hope you enjoyed yourself a bit!? :)
ReplyDeleteHugs,
