So, here's the story........
I've been having some really horrific pain in my lower abdomen area.
It's been going on for quite awhile.
So first step in the journey to figure out what's causing said pain........
SHOTS!
In my TUMMY!
Oh my..... the Doctor who did the injections was quite a nice fellow, but let me tell 'ya.......just in case you've never had this experience before. It hurts like the dickens..... They're intended to block the pain and are called trigger point injections. So, to actually block the pain, they have to find the spots that hurt the WORST, then put some steroids into that exact spot.
Whooppeee.
I swear I was at least a foot off of the table at least ten times during this little procedure.
And here I am, one day out and still hurt like the dickens.
So, tell me.... has anybody had this treatment? Did it work?
Still waiting.
Waiting.
Waiting.
Huggies to all. :-)
Just don't touch the tummy.

Spence
Photo found on Photobucket HERE. Thank you so much.... I just can't do a post without a photo. :-) And, I swear the needle was about a foot longer than this one, not that I even looked.
ouch is right and steroids?? yuck
ReplyDeleteget better quick and no more yucky shots.
Oh Spencer! That sounds horrific!! I have never heard of this but I sincerely hope since you are going through this that you get some relief!!
ReplyDeleteI will say prayers!

Oh, sweetie! So sorry! Yes, they hurt like the devil! Hope it helps. Mine usually does in a few days but not fun.
ReplyDeleteHow was the visit to the beach? Relaxing & enjoyable, I am sure.
Sure miss ya! Hi to the Chetster!
Have a beautiful weekend ~
TTFN~
Hugs of love,
Marydon
No, and it sounds terrible. Both the pain and the shots sound bad. Hope it eases soon. Hugs, Marty
ReplyDeleteOoooh. I was always the child that had to be chased down the hall by the nurse when it came time for a shot. I pray that the pain you endured results in the desired effect. I hate steroids...they make me feel so wired and on the edge. I usually choose not to drive when I have to take them (bronchitis and upper respiratory problems). I pray that you feel better quickly. Cherry Kay
ReplyDeleteThat just sounds awful!! and if it isn't working that makes it even worse. I am so sorry you are having so much pain. Keeping you in my prayers Spencer! Hugs, Linda
ReplyDeleteI think I would have lived with the pain. That needle is long! I do hope you are feeling better. Steroids are amazing!
ReplyDeleteXO,
Jane
Well I've had the pain and it was all caused by a big blockage of you know what.... but NEVER a needle. I'm terrified of small needles let alone big honking ones like that Spencer OMG.... feel better, but if not... get to the emergency NOW.
ReplyDeleteIt's been snowing all day and all night. It's been nice, but not when one has to shovel. Poor Colt and Riley. They've been out twice already. We have over 18 inches, if not more.
I'm suppose to go to Mtl. for Sister's sisters funeral ... not sure I'll make it. I'm sad.
Please feel better my friend.
Love Claudie

Poor Spencer! I'm so sorry you're having pain and so sorry you got those horrible shots in your tummy! I pray you'll be pain free soon - really soon!
ReplyDeleteBe a sweetie,
Shelia ;)
You poor sweet gal. I can't say that I had a Steroid shot to the tummy but I did have lower abdominal pain that would not go away back in 2007. I went to the doc and he suggested a colonoscopy. The colonoscopy showed that my large intestine was enlarged and that might be causing the pain. We tried 28 days of IV's with a steroid drip to no avail. On day 32 I had to have my whole large intestine and colon removed.
ReplyDeleteNow I'm not telling you this to scare you, just be sure you don't over look this pain as "just a little pain". My recommendation to you would be to get a colonoscopy and do a lot of research on
pro-biotics. It is amazing, believe it or not but your whole bodies health is regulated by your colon, believe me I know that !!!
I hope you get feeling better and that this pain goes away soon and all is well!!!
xoxo
Debbie
Hi Spencer, I agree with Debbie, my Brother works closely with the Chrons and Colitis Foundation, pain in your tummy that won't go away can be serious, ask your Doctor about having your colon checked too. As for the needle, I had to have a cortisone shot once and the needle was so huge I started to feel faint when I saw it! So I can relate, Hope you're feeling better soon xoxo tami
ReplyDeleteooooh, I'm so sorry about the tummy pain! Especially the shots....ugh!! Torture!! Hope they figure out what's wrong. I've had stomach pain on & off for years ~ pretty much food related. Dairy, wheat mixed w/ dairy, sometimes meat mixed w/ starches...oh what fun! Good luck!
ReplyDeletexo,
Shellagh
I feel so sorry for you...that sounds just awful! I hope all gets well soon! ;D
ReplyDeleteMiss Spencie...
ReplyDeleteI have NEVER heard of this my friend. It sounds totally dreadful. Even though I can't help you :( :(:( (wish I could) I can pray. So that is what I'm doing! It's the best option anyway! Don't you think?
Thinking of you and praying for no-shot-days!
xoRebecca
Oh this sounds just awful! Are yu sure this is the only way!? Hope youre in pain no longer!
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Sometimes the exploratory diagnosis hurts more than the treatment. Good luck, Spencer. This does sound like a Chrons/colitis issue- you are seeing a specialist of some kind?
ReplyDeleteOh sweetie, this makes me hurt just to read it. I've never had them in my tummy. but had to have them once in my elbow. Hurt like the dickens, is right!!!! The needles are huge! My husband has to have them in his lower back. Thankfully not very often. They are quite pricey.
ReplyDeletePlease get to feeling better soon...when you hurt, I hurt!
much love...
Hello Spencer! I came to check out your blog after reading your sweet comment last night...thank you for visiting :) OH MY GOODNESS..I hate needles and I don't even want to THINK about how much that must have hurt ...you poor girl. I hope they find the cause of the pain soon so you can relax and get on with life. Good luck! Now I'm off to take a look around your sweet blog...enjoy your day as best you can.
ReplyDeleteMaura :)
Wow, Spencer, that doesn't sound like anything one would seek after. I hope it does somehow work into being something that was worth the pain as it helps them figure things out. Praying for you to get and stay well!
ReplyDeleteI know that struggle of not wanting to go out and get sweaty. I hate every aspect of it but I am trying. I have knee issues and I know you have trouble too from your childhood experiences. I am just trying for the moderation approach as I factor in all the media hype about how we must do this and that. We always need to stay close to the Lord so we can know what is right for us as individuals.
Have a very Happy New Year, sweet freind!
Hugs and love, Bonnie
So sorry. I hope it work.
