Happy Blue Monday

Can it already be Monday? Whoa, that weekend just zipped by.

Several months ago I shared that the Hubbs and I had gotten a new bed.... well, it all started with the need to get a new mattress......then the Hubbs decided we should really go for a king size this time. Well, that means finding a new frame too.... and sheets, pillows, down comforter.......and on and on and on.

I was thrilled to have found a frame very similar to the old one. It's always been my favorite style. I actually had a vintage iron bed that was very similar many years ago in a full size. I just like them. Plain and simple.

So the photo above is the before. Queen size. I was quite concerned about fitting a king into our little cottage.

And, there's the new one. I am in love. It fits just fine, doesn't it? Well, there's no room to do aerobics, but then......I never did that anyway.

I felt overpowered at first, but now I'm really used to it.

Oh, and the sleeping.........what a huge difference. Have you tried memory foam? My shoulders and hips don't hurt anymore either.

We got an iComfort set. It is simply DEEE.LISH.

I feel like a new woman. :-)

I bought the same Loire matelasse spread and shams (Penneys) I had for the queen and re-used the pillows I already had.

Hmmmm.... I LOVE pillows. There are eleven on this bed. :-)

And, the details.... I love details. Isn't this little wreath just the cutest darn thing?

I bought the frame through Carolina Rustica and it's a Wesley Allen bed.... just in case you're interested. It was by far the best buy on the net.

I'm going Sweet Sally at Smiling Sally for Blue Monday.

Do pop over. You'll love her post. She has some shoes on her post you just won't believe. I could NEVAH walk in those things.

Happy President's Day.

Huggies and Lovies.

Trash To Treasure...... No, REALLY! And, It's Blue Monday Too!

Hi Sweet Chickies and THANK YOU for coming... I love it when you pop in.... :-)

Yes, I know..... some would say....HOLY COW Spencer, why the heck would you want to add this little broken plate to your bloggie?.... Yeah, probably MOST.

I suppose I'd be thinking that too.

Ahhhhh.... But this little plate is a TREASURE to me.

My darling little grandson was here when I dropped this little number and broke it to bits.

I had it under a candle in my bathroom.... It was only a little garage sale find.... no big deal really......... probably about twenty five cents.

Now it's worth a million bucks!

Well, to me.

He caught me as I was tossing it into the garbage and dug out the pieces... (nearly all of them).... And, told me he'd fix it for me.

I know, it's really a small thing, but it really tickled me. How sweet is that?

So he worked on it for quite awhile and now it's "as good as new"....

It's back in my bathroom.

I see it every day.

And, every day it makes me smile.

Who says you need to have Limoges?

I am CRRRRAZY about this little fella...

Have a great week little sweeties.

Huggies,
Spencer

Finally! Here It Is.... The Bedroom ReVEal... :-)

Oh my goodness sweet chickies! I have been away tooooo long! I've been so busy I hadn't even realized it had been over a week. Time does fly!! :-)

I hope you've all been well and enjoying your summer. For those of you in those triple digit heat wave states.... I am sooo sorry.... that's just too darn hot. OUCH!

I've been promising the Master Bedroom pix for quite some time and thought I'd better get to it.....lest ya'all think I'm fibbin' to you about finally finishing it. :-)

This was the room I was determined to do for under one hundred dollars and I actually did it! Everything you see in the room that is blue..... except the blue Parson's chair is new/old.

I told you about the thrifted blue check Ikea duvet that I had planned for the curtains....well, there they are! I am pretty darn pleased with the way they turned out. Do you see the little scallops on the attached valance? I did the tutorial on how to do those little sweeties a little while back. If I knew how to do all that linking jazz.... I could put a link HERE. ;-)

The blue check on the pillows is a bit of my Hubbs' blue checked shirt.... I LOVED that shirt, but it finally had seen it's better days... He looked so cute in it so it's a nice memory to have a bit of it in our room. The bottom part is a smidge of vintage barkcloth.

*** You can click any photo to enlarge it. ***

The bed is not antique and is relatively new... (I think about 20 years old now).... It used to be green and I had it powder coated a lovely creamy white. I LOVE it and will have it forever.

When my Hubby and I got married he had very little in the way of furniture. He had moved here from Hawaii with seven small boxes. Get ready to say Ahhhhhh... His house was pretty darn empty and he left it that way because he was looking for the right girl to make it all pretty.... here we go.... ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh. But, that table was one of the things he had. It's old and really beat up but I just love it. Do you have things like that too? Not museum quality but you really don't care? (Not that I have a single thing that IS museum quality).

I've had the metal basket for years and years... it's filled with vintage linens now. There is a little cup tied onto it with a hankie... I have a blue one, but keep forgetting to change it.

I bought the lamp at the Goodwill for 9.99 and then paid THIRTY dollars to have it re-wired. DANG. I had no idea it would be that much. The fellow put the little on/off do-hickey on the back and didn't align the harp so I took it all apart and did it myself. Why didn't I do that in the first place and save myself that THIRTY dollars???

But, I do love the lamp. :-)

The little white, vintage washstand was a gift from one of my dearest friends. She went to be with Jesus about six years ago..... I still miss her.... And LOVE the little chest.

Whenever I re-do a room all the basics of the room match.... walls, curtains, bedding, etc.... Not in a JC Penney matched set kind of way....but so the room has some continuity... and then I add lots of things that DON'T match... That's just the way I like it. I'm not a purist in the matchy department.... I'm sort of a "SHAKE IT UP" kind of chickie. One of my dear friends calls it "adding the poison"...

I bought this little chest at a neighborhood garage sale for 30 dollars a number of years ago and have had the shelf thing forever... I love how they look together and it gives me another spot to put a bunch of junk ... AKA beautiful collectibles... ;-)

I have many..... READ MANY tole trays... I have lots that are this shade of green so I HAD to use them.

I bought this little chair at a little antique mall in Bend, Oregon last year. I didn't realize, until I got home, that one of the rungs was missing.... I took out the other one and replaced both sides. I was sooooo proud of myself.

Silly me... Why didn't I take the phone out before I took the pix? CRAZY.

I bought a pair of these lamps at an estate sale many years ago. I'm in LOVE with them.... so sweet, aren't they?

No lamp shortage here. :-)

I don't know what this old pottery is called....but I call it cottage ware. It's made in Japan and will leak like a sieve if you try to put flowers in it. Not so good.

That little clock is actually PINK! :-) I just got it and am thrilled with it.

Really Spencer??? TWO of these pictures??

It's late and I'm realllly tired.

I just bought that round tray (not tole) over the bed at The Funky Junk Sisters sale... Isn't it cute there? I love hanging things between those windows. I have three other sets of them in the little cottage.

The little bench at the end of the bed is actually an old piano bench that I used to use as a coffee table. Every time my grandson came, as a little guy, I would take everything off it so he could play with his animals on it. It has sweet memories for this old grandma.

I slipcovered this chair several years ago. I was thrilled that it matched in my new room so I didn't have to make another one. We have an all city garage sale every June. As I was driving down one of the back streets a gal was putting two of these chairs on the curb for free. I nearly rolled my car turning around to pick them up. FREE! Gosh I do love FREE.

Trust me... it is UGLY underneath.

And, finally a little, girlie slip on an old chair with a pillow made from that same shirt of my hubby's and a bit of old linen.

I only have that tole tray hanging on the walls.... And a huge mirror on the other side of the room... It looks really nekkid when I take wide pix, but I am really enjoying it like this for right now. I have plenty to hang, but for now.... It's going to be plain.

Whew...........I made up for that week of non-blogging, didn't I? I am LONG winded today.

So, there it is.... For less than $100...(not including the paint)..... and that includes the master bath.... pix to come soon.

I'm linking to loads of parties today...

Thank you Dear Girlies....for popping by to visit and for your patience... I've been such a lousy blogger for the past few months.... I'm finished with the den and living room too and soon to finish the kitchen here at the itsy, bitsy cottage. Why does it take so long to clean something so small?

Love ya'll lots and lots.
