Oh My.... I Won't Be Serving This Anytime Soon!

Happy Thursday Girlies!

My daughter and I are having a garage sale this weekend...... Hmmmmm.....aren't they a big 'ol bother??? But I do love counting the $$$$$$$$$ after the sale! :-) So, we always manage to muddle through. We have one every year about this time. The plan is always for June but we've never made it yet. We're two slow chickies.

We were out in her garage this afternoon, going through piles of junk,....oh yes........WONDERFUL items....... :-) And, the girl found these great vintage recipe cards.... We couldn't believe this one... Seriously? They really ate this stuff? Now, I have to confess, the things I make must actually TASTE like this sounds.... My pot for the church social will be the ONLY one with stuff left in it when it's time to go home.......Well, all except for that cake the night I met the Hubbs at a church singles dinner. :-) I think it was the cake that captured his heart......

Whipped cream, lemon Jello and OLIVES???? Hard cooked eggs??? BLECH!!!

And, check out the dressing???

I don't think I'd have caught him with this, do you???

I loved the title of this one.... White Moon Cake with Moon glow frosting..... It just sounds happy, doesn't it??

The cake I made??? Better Than Sex Cake... Ahhhh..... come on....I thought it was kind of funny.... And, the PERFECT thing for a CHURCH social, right?? Maybe Moon Cake with Moon Glow frosting would have done it too. Actually I have NEVER made that cake again.... (or before).

Sunset Salad.... Must have been popular back in the day... It was in the paper..... And, Jello must have been big back then too, it seems like the staple in all salads.

Ruth Collin's Strawberry Mold had it too... Do you remember strawberries in the box? The one with the little metal ends??? I had totally forgotten about them until now. How long has it been since they made them that way? They were always the dickens to open.

Well, I'll be pricing and setting up for the next couple of days dear ones....so I'll be scarce around here..........like I haven't been?

I've had my little grandson for most of the summer so that has taken a LOT of my time. He usually stays from Sunday night until Friday night or Saturday. Gosh I LOVE being a grandma. There is just nothing better. Seeing his little face first thing every morning makes my heart sing. He is a treasure. A couple of weeks ago I was talking to him about my little dog and the heat... Little Ruby is 1/2 Frenchie, 1/4 Boston and 1/4 English Bulldog so she has that little short face.... I was telling him that she can't tolerate the heat very well.........He looked at me like I had TWO heads and told me "Oh, I know.....she's bracycephalic............All ten year old kids know that, right? Good grief.... He has Asperger's Syndrome, but the kid's a genius.

I MISS you!

And, I'll be back to the regular blogging soon!

Looking For A Really Special Dinner Plan?

Hi Sweet and Wonderful Girlies!

Thank you so much for all the Hubbs' Birthday wishes.....

I printed out about 12 Happy Birthday signs on the computer and added artwork....after Prince Charming went to sleep I put them everywhere he'd go in the morning.....Yes, as a matter of fact, I WAS still sleeping......gotta get enough zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz's!   :-)   I even put one in his laptop so when he opened it at work there would be a little birthday cheer.

And, we went out for Sushi....one of our favorites!  Gotta love some raw fish.    :-)

Delish!

Now, about these recipes.....As I've said many times before, I'm not exactly the Queen of the Kitchen, if you know what I mean.  There are a few things that I make reallly well and then there's the REST.  :-)    YIKES!

Hmmmmmmmm...........I'm thinking I probably won't roast a squirrel anytime soon.

I used to collect vintage cookbooks...........now there's some fun!

I sold them several years ago on eBay....but I had these old pix in my stash.

Hilarious.

Now, if you're in a rush, here are some time savers.

I especially like the Fricassee of Canned Whole Chicken.  YUM!   :-)

Don'tcha ever say I'm not full of good ideas now, will 'ya?

I'm soooo excited!  The BIG WEDDING is this weekend!

Well, actually it's just teeny-tiny, but we have a bride and groom that are over the moon.  Do you remember me telling you about Bobby and Susan?  My dear Hubbs has known Bobby since childhood.....we played cupid and introduced him to my sweet friend, Susan........And, the rest they say, is history!

I'm going to do the flowers for them, so I'll be putting them together on Friday......

I'll have pix next week.

And, my precious little Grandson is getting an award at school tomorrow---

STUDENT OF THE MONTH!!!!!!!!!!!

Now, this is an accomplishment.  I'm so thrilled.  I wouldn't miss that for the world.

Bless his little heart.  I soooo adore this child.

Now, all of you little sweeties make it a great day!

God made it especially for YOU!

Enjoy.

Huge huggies....

Now These Are Some FUNNY Vintage Recipes!

I collected vintage cookbooks for years and sold nearly all of them on eBay last year. I took some pictures of some of the funniest recipes.......I can't imagine whipping up some of this stuff. Well, not that I'm all that great in the kitchen anyway. (It seems I'm not in the Haute Cuisine category.........I'm more like my sweet Mum.....I can whip up loads of fattening things with lots of butter and cheese, but we just do NOT eat like that any more........I'm sadly lacking in the current dining department........) Most of the things that I make (that are delish) are recipes given to me by the ladies who really know how to whip up some great dishes.

I did make the yummiest Bean Soup for dinner today.......again.......My darling little friend Susan taught me to make it.... Gosh I love her.

I'm thinking the Southern Fried Apples might just be pretty good.....but do read on.. :-)

I know my family would never eat this one!

I haven't seen Pike at the fish monger's lately............DARN.

Hmmmmmmmmm..........I just don't think I could cook a squirrel! :-)

They did have some interesting ideas back then, didn't they??

I think Shredded Wheat Bread just may be kind of dry???

Old Fashioned Cool Whip???

Happy Monday......I hope this is the beginning of a wonderful week for all you little Sweeties.....

God Bless YOU!

Warm Regards,
Spencer

PS........Speaking of Susan.....I had mentioned a little while back that we had set our friends up?? Bobby and Susan?? Welllllll.........they went out on their second date. They are adorable. We're keeping our fingers crossed. I'll keep you updated!
