Hemma

My darling grandson began calling me Hemma when he was just a little guy.

He's nearly twelve.......still calls me Hemma.

My daughter and I spelled it Hamma until he started writing... he always spelled it Hemma...... so Hemma it's been since then.

I was delighted to find this darling little needlework on Pinterest with my name on it... right there on the WWW! Ok, yes, I know it wasn't personally for me, but stilllll...... :-)

But, the bestestest part? It's Swedish. Hemma means HOME.

How precious is that?

I hope he calls me Hemma forever and ever.

I love it.........and I ADORE this boy.

Hope you're having a great day. We have bits of sunshine here! Whoopppeeee!

Huggies and Lovies!

Yipppeee! I'm Home!

Yay! I'm home to little Bellamere Cottage.......yes, this IS a picture from last October. I guess I should get out there and take a spring picture. The little, bitty bush under the window was a replacement for a bush that croaked, so it's a bit small. I'm hoping it takes off this year. I bought beauuuuuuuuutiful hydrangeas to add to that area too. I think spring has finally sprung (ok......sort of)........here in the Northwest so we can get out and make that yard pretty.

:-)

It's good to be home and my girl is doing just great. I came home last night and right after I left my little grandson hopped into the shower. When he got out of the shower he was holding the towel over his face, sobbing........poor little guy........he MISSED me! I miss both of them too. We had a good time just being together, although it would have been a lot more fun if my girl had felt better.

Thanks again for all your prayers and caring. It helped me so much.

This is not a good week for me..........Mother's Day is Sunday and this is my first year without my Mum..........it's soooo sad.

Blessing you!

Hugs,
Spencer

Ten Things About Me....You Probably Didn't Really Want To Know!

Ok.....Tuesday's Post Continued.........

Ten things about me.......hmmmm.....I'm thinkin' ya'allllllll really don't want to know all this stuff.....(no, I'm not from the south, but doesn't ya'allllll just work so nicely?)

1. I'm sort of a girlie girl......I started out that way actually. I didn't wear a pair of pants until I was eight years old and I can remember being in third grade crying all day because my Mum put my hair in a pony tail......I had long curls, after all......oh brother......no wonder I'm high maintenance. And, if I got my little, starched dress (hey, it was the 50's) dirty, I needed a fresh one.... My poor Mum.

2. We live in a small house that is nothing fancy. We don't have a boat, an RV, a vacation house, or fancy cars, but I am so content with what I have. I feel extremely blessed and am so grateful. God has been so generous to me. I nearly have to pinch myself sometimes because I'm so blessed.

3. Ok, I know this one is really weird. I'll admit it. I confess. I have to cut my coupons EXACTLY on the lines. If they're not perfect I'll just have to trim them up.

4. I simply CANNOT sing the National Anthem. I am so proud to be an American....how did I get so lucky?? At any rate, I TRY......I open my mouth and I'm so choked up nothing comes out. Yeah, I generally cry too.......Ditto the Pledge of Allegiance. We have such an awesome country. I love to thank our Military for their service........yeah, I get all choked up and cry then too.

5. I can't let myself have a day to just play around unless my house is clean. Do you think I might be OCD??? :-)

6. I get hives every day.

7. You know that birth order thing? The fella that wrote the book that explains your place in the family and how it effects your personality???? Well......I'm the oldest, the youngest, the middle and an only. Wonder why I'm quirky??? My older sister was five when I was born. She passed away when I was three. I was an only child until I was seven when my younger sister was born. Three girls, all blue-eyed blondes born in July.

8. I love rainy "Make a Pot of Soup" kinds of days. I mentioned to my DH when we were dating that there's nothing like a nice, cozy pot of stew and a fire. Yep, he's still waiting. He asks me about it all the time.

9. I never go anywhere without a project. If my hubby and I go for a drive or vacation I always tote a little somethin'.....

10. Ok. I realllly debated putting this one out there, but what the heck, we're all friends, right?? I've been married three times.......YEP.....count 'em THREE!! The first one to my daughter's dad.......nearly 22 years. Then I married my daughter's best friend's dad. Mmmmmm........not a good choice. Those darn rebound marriages. Then I met my dear, sweet hubbs. We've been married since October 1997. I teased him at one time and asked if I could go ahead and celebrate my 25 year anniversary........hey, it would be 25 years if I added them all up! Oh, and by the way, the hubbs???? He's been married three times too. We met at a singles shin-dig at church and have been so happy ever since. He always tells me "it's a GOD thing"......we match in so many odd and wonderful ways.

So, there it is. Now you know it alllll!

Wishing you a wonderful and joyful day.

God is sooooooooo good.

Bless you!

Little Bellamere Cottage......

This is our cozy, little house in the Pacific Northwest! I wanted to wait to post pix of it until Spring when everything was pretty around here, but decided to use pictures from a couple of years ago instead of waiting........it DOES NOT look like this around here right now. We have soggy ground, droopy plants and sick looking hydrangeas. I KNOW it will be pretty again, right???

Bellamere Cottage is a petite little girl....1500 square feet. Every inch of which is packed full. I am NOT a minimalist AT ALL. Why then, I wonder, do the Scandanavian homes appeal to me so much? Is it knowing that they would take half the time to clean? That I'd be able to actually pull the vacuum cleaner back without hitting something? They are so pretty, aren't they??? If you haven't checked them out before, I some on my list of favs!

Ahhhh.......isn't that little bunny the cutest thing? He's still out there. I think he probably has moss on him now..........not that I don't LOVE moss!

This isn't the best shot, but it's all I have. I posted these pix a long time ago on Rate My Space.......My sweet friend, Jan and I have a garage sale every June. During the entire sale I sat there looking at this adorable little bedstead she had for sale. Ever thinking of making something out of nothing, I began to wonder about making my house sign out of it. So......voile!!! This is the headboard from that set. I whacked off the legs and added the little piece across the bottom to finish it off and painted it up. I read tons of English novels and it seems they always name their homes........hey, I'm English, mine should have a name, right? Although I had been thinking about it for a long time, I hadn't really planned a name, so I went to work. I tried everything out. I didn't want to use our name......well, that would be pretty hard, I kept my maiden name, so whose would I use, my husband's or mine? After many days and a hundred ideas I decided on Bellamere Cottage. Bella means pretty, mere means small.........and so Pretty Little Cottage was born.......

Wishing you a wonderful, blessed Monday!

Shots of my Darling Daughter's house.......she's so much fun and likes LOTS of stuff too! No point in having any wasted space, now is there??? :-)

I love, love, love this shelf.........I'm thinking I should sneak in one day when she's not home and swipe it.........think she'd notice???

Table..........Mummy's
Chair.........Mummy's
Lamp.........gift from Mummy
But really.......it works the other way too! I have lots of things from
her house too!

Sweet little baby picture...........Yeah...........me..........
I love her angel collection. I want to swipe those too!

Just too sweet, isn't it???

Love the angel wings too! :-)

Yeah.........more from her Mummy.............I just finished this little lovely for myself and my dearest husband gave it to her............I sure miss it!

Oh my gosh........I had so many things to do today and have spent most of the day sitting here trying to get things to work. What a process. I have made some great discoveries along the way, but still haven't accomplished my first objective. Reallllllly........how hard can this be??? Well, if you're me.........just pretty dang tough!

I'm going to keep right on working on it. I think the books will help! Hopefully... ;-)

Sunny Smiles and Best Wishes for
A Wonderful Weekend!

Mmmmmm..... PINK! Aren't the lovely?

Little dogs..........so cute! We actually have many of the same ones!

Handmade lampshade......Jan taught me how to do these little lovelies. They're actually pretty easy and have so much punch to them, don't they?

Another hand made shade.........and BIRDS!.....and ivy.........and tole trays!

My sweet friend, Jan, and I finally got together for a visit. We can't figure out why we wait so long to make time for a long chat and a yummy lunch! It had been months since we'd been together and did we ever talk up a storm.........you know how it is when you're with someone you just love and you're both chatters?? We talk so fast, and over each other......and laugh and laugh and LAUGH! It's such good fun. Why do we wait??

We LOVE the same things........Jesus, family and our HOMES! It was amazing, the first time we met, how alike our decorating styles are. We love tole trays, little dogs, birds, ivy, little vignettes and black (we both use it liberally). We look forward to Jennifer's new featured home at The Old Painted Cottage and chat about the look of each month's home. It's a great way to get ideas!

Jan is a hooker..........no..........not THAT kind......she is an EXPERT rug hooker. Oh my, they are just delicious. I do so many different arts, but I'm telling you, I'm having so much trouble mastering hooking. I have so much money invested in frames, I just HAVE to learn. We're going to be working on that as soon as I pick out a pattern. I've learned how to dye wool.........and I know what I like......I've discovered that just doesn't get the rug finished, however.

The snow is melted from yesterday, so I'm out and about today, doing some of the things that didn't get done yesterday. Whoooooppeee!

I hope your day is blessed!
Warmly, Spence
