Pink Saturday.....And, A Birthday

Hi chickies.... and Happy Pink Saturday!

And, as a matter of fact.... It's my BIRTHDAY too! :-)

My daughter's taking me out for the day... We're going to do a bit of thrifting, hit some antique stores and have a nice lunch... Then, on Sunday, the Hubbs and I are going to have a day out. Hey.... gotta stretch these special days out, right?

Isn't the pink box just perfect for Pink Saturday?

I've been going to post this for Pink Saturday for so darn long. My daughter, grandson and I went to Portland for the weekend several months ago..... My daughter had heard about this doughnut spot called Voodoo Doughnut. Well, I have an aversion to anything with Voodoo in the name, but we decided to go check it out. Yep, I'm a nice Mum like that. :-)

It's just about the funkiest place you've ever seen......

They only accept cash.... so they have this ATM inside....

Worth the Weight.... :-) I'm doing really well in that department right now, so it wouldn't be to me.

Well, darn it allllllllllll........... I have pictures of the LONG, LONG lines you have to wait in to even get inside this tiny place.....and for some reason they've disappeared.... but trust me. We waited about 1/2 hour for our turn.

My beautiful daughter and cute-as-can-be grandson..........waiting, waiting, waiting.

This is the one I chose.....Cocoa Puffs on top.... I wasn't all that crazy about it.

They have some really weird flavors. I can't even remember all of them, but the selection is unlike any doughnut place I've ever been in.

My daughter is more adventurous than I am. She bought several of these........I thought it was the most disgusting looking thing ever.......but it was YUMMMM-O! Just like breakfast......maple and bacon. Next time I'm getting this flavor!

So if you're in Portland, you may want to pop by for a nice BaconMapleBarBreakfast!

Have a wonderful weekend dear ones........and thank you so much for all your kind words on my studio. I'm trying to get to visit each of you, but it's taking a while to get down the list.

My Boy LOVES The Zoo!....ANY Zoo! And, I got TWO awards.....YIPPEEE!

Oh how my little guy LOVES a zoo....He is CRAZY about animals and knows more than Wickipedia....I'm just sure of it! He's been to loads of them....Bless my daughter's heart! The Minnesota Zoo, Point Defiance Zoo, Woodland Park Zoo, San Diego Zoo, Honolulu Zoo......some of them MANY times!....He's actually going to Zoo Camp for two whole weeks this summer, and is THRILLED.

Ahhh.....come on guys, can't we go in yet???

Real? :-) Look at the view from this zoo! Isn't it beautiful?

Oh my gosh........these "little" guys were just beeeeeee-u-ti-ful! I wasn't impressed with their digs, however. A cement cage? No trees?......I felt sorry for them. So many zoos offer natural habitats for their animals....maybe that's in the works for these fellas. I sure hope so.

My beautiful daughter and my little guy........They both had BRIGHT blue eyes until last year. Both of them have green eyes now. I keep wondering how that happened???? Something in the water?

I wish I'd had my better camera with me....I loved this shot...not that I'm a super photographer by any stretch, but I think I'd have gotten a better picture had I had it with me. Darn. Oh how I adore this little guy.

And.......MY AWARD.....ACTUALLY TWO OF THEM! WOW!

The Premios Darde Award.....which means Top Dart.

The award acknowledges the value that every blogger shows in his or her effort to transmit culture, ethical, literary and personal values every day.

The Rules:

1. Accept it.

2. Link back to the one who gave it to you.

3. Award it to 15 other people who you think should receive it. Then, let them know.

Thank you sooooo much to Lynn at Lynn's Lovelies and Barbara at The Purple Goat Lady for this wonderful award. I really don't think I do anything to deserve this honor, but I'm so happy you've given it to me!

I never like giving awards to specific girlies.........because I can only award an assigned number. I think you ALLLLLLLL deserve this honor. So, instead of picking a few, I'd like everyone who visits to take this little award right on over to your blog and have it for yourself! You have given me sooooooooooo much by befriending me..........I love you all!

So here it is......copy and paste it to your blog! It's all YOURS!

Oh, for Pete's sake...........I can't get the darn picture to work.......you can see it over there on the right........yeah, right there on my sidebar.....snatch it! :-)

I'm wishing you all a wonderful Wednesday.....

I'm cleaning today......well, I'm getting to it.....really I am. Truly. Honestly. Ok....I'm going!

Lovies and Huggies Sweeties!

A Day At Port Townsend And A Car Crash Update.......

My Hubbs had a long weekend for the Fourth of July, so we drove up to Port Townsend, on Friday, for lunch at one of our favorite restaurants.

The weather was just yummy and we had a delightful day.

I love a town with flower pots, flower baskets..........whatever, wherever....POSIES MAKE ALL THE DIFFERENCE.........I swear, I'll pay a little bit more to buy gas at a station with flowers....They just make me happy.

Yep, there he is...........really he should be turned the other way.......this fella LIVES for a water view. He's such a cute little guy. Everyone who knows him uses this EXACT same sentence........."oh, that Craig........he's just the nicest guy".... :-) They're right!

Port Townsend is such a sweet little old town. Lots of little shops and some really nice antique stores. Sadly, I was having "a bad leg day" and didn't get to walk around.

So darn cute!

It's too bad they don't have underground wires in this adorable little town, but isn't this old architecture just delish? Sort of like a wedding cake, isn't it?

Ahhhhhh........and our favorite restaurant, The Stillwater Cafe. OH MY GOSH....they have the BEST food. Very different flavors melded together. I wish I had remembered to take pictures of the inside and of the FOOD while we were there. Sorry! :-)

I have admitted it here before, I'm a lousy cook. I used to be a great cook when everything had a sauce and most things were made with tons of butter........we just don't eat like that any more and my sweet, 3X bypass, Hubbs doesn't eat meat, so things around here are pretty pathetic in the dining department. I bought The Stillwater Cafe Cookbook........I am SO hoping it will help. Everything in it looks wonderful and most things are made without meat. YIPPPEEE.

Now, onto some really sad news. My DH's boss was taken away in an ambulance yesterday. He is a WONDERFUL man and my Hubbs really cares for him. It looks like he may have had a stroke. I'm sick over it and have prayed and prayed for him. Would you please offer up a prayer for him too. He's only 63 and has a family. Thanks so very much. My Hubbs is beside himself.

Now, the Darling Daughter wreck update. (Please see last post).

My daughter has been spending endless hours dealing with this mess. It looks like they're not going to total her car at this point. They are, however, going to take the whole side of her car out and rebuild it........that includes that center post. I don't want to be gory here, but that post is that failed when her husband was killed in an accident. She does NOT want this car back after having been put back together. And, evidently the frame has been bent and they think they can square it back up. I'm not a car repair person, but it makes sense to me that if you bend metal, then bend it back it will never be as strong. She has to have a car that is safe for her child and for herself.

We went to court yesterday for the uninsured ninny with a suspended license who hit her. He didn't show up. Isn't that just classic? But here's the clincher. He hit my daughter on the Fourth of July. He was arrested for driving with a suspended license AGAIN on the FIFTH! Can you believe it? He just doesn't get it.

Sorry this bloggie is just lots of ramblings.......My brain is alllll furry right now. :-)

Thank you so much for coming, for reading my ramblings and for your prayers.

We covet them.

Lovies and Huggies!

Praising Jesus! Thank You For Protecting My Family!

Let me begin by saying...........GOD IS GOOD! He took care of my family and protected them from very serious injury. I am more grateful than I could ever express. I have one daughter and one grandson....And........I LOVE them SOOOO much.

Yes, this would be my darling daughter's beautiful little car. We had asked my daughter and grandson to come for dinner for the Fourth of July.....she said "no, I hate to drive on the Fourth, there are too many drunks on the road, we'll just stay home". About 7 in the evening they decided to go about a mile down the road to pick up a pizza. It was sooo hot here yesterday and she didn't want to cook.

They were driving down a main road when some complete idiot blew through the stop sign and slammed into the side of my family's car. His license had been suspended and he had NO insurance. Great. He was 25 and two young girls in the car. It could have been so much worse, but my daughter caught sight of him flying toward her and managed to swerve a bit.

My grandson is a BIG kid and legal to sit in the front seat......he was RIGHT there....

As I've shared before, my son-in-law was killed in a car accident six years ago....leaving my daughter to parent the little guy by herself. It hasn't been easy, but she kept going for him.

My little guy was beside himself. Dodi gave him the phone to talk to me from the accident......so I could calm him while she talked to the police. He was terrified. When the accident happened a lady came flying out her house to check on them and my little guy told her right away about his dad. That just breaks my heart.

Bless his little heart. He told me that talking to me had helped him a lot, but he still had a little bit of scare left in him. I love him so much...

I went right over to comfort both of them and my little guy just kept telling me not to squeeze him too hard he was "sick"....and did vomit. He didn't look like himself at all, so we took him to the ER to have him checked out.

They said he was fine, it was probably too much fear for him to handle under the circumstances.

I stayed overnight and when I went to leave today, my little guy told me it was too soon to go, I'd only stayed ONE night......

The driver told the officers that he was probably going about 10-15 miles an hour...well, it looks like the frame of her car is bent and my daughter said he was flying....and didn't brake at all.

So....here we are. A single Mom....struggling to get by......with what looks like replacement of her car on her hands now. I'm so furious with this driver...........He actually told the officers..........I HAVE BEEN HAVING BRAKE TROUBLE!...........WHAT? And, you went out and risked lives? So caviler about human life? WHY?

What is wrong with some people? I'm sorry to blab on here, but I'm so ANGRY!....How DARE he risk my family's lives? Or anyone else's???

And, now he's left my daughter to pick up the pieces.

Please pray for them. They're both pretty beat up and very sore. And, for me. I know I should forgive him, but right now, I'm just not feeling very forgiving.

I'm so thankful that I know YOU WILL pray for them!

Hugs to all.

The Mommy...

xoxoxoxox

PS.....I just talked to my daughter........she said my little guy has been walking around all day asking how that guy could have hit their car.........and that he kept hearing the accident in his head. My heart is breaking for my family. This has brought up so much of the old stuff for my little guy....my daughter has her "mommy" pain dealing with his emotions and her own re-living of those horrible days six years ago.

My daughter didn't realize she doesn't have rental car insurance on her uninsured motorist policy so it will cost her about 1,000 per month to rent a car until they sort this all out. She doesn't happen to HAVE an extra 1,000 per month.

I covet your prayers and want to thank you all for your precious messages. I'm constantly amazed by the blogging world. Such a loving, caring and uplifting group of women. I love you all........thank you.

And, through it all..........God is still in control.

Happy, HAPPY Birthday, My Sweet Boy!!!

Ahhhhh......it's been a LONG time since my little guy was this tiny. He's NINE today. Oh my, that time went by so quickly. I am the mommy of an only child.....so I only got to go down this path once. I was amazed by how quickly she became a woman, it seemed like it happened overnight. So, when my little guy was born I was determined to spend as much time with him as I could.

I LOVE this child. He is so darn interesting. And, funny! We have a Tuesday "DATE" every week. I pick him up at school and we go to dinner, (he's a BOY after all, and ALWAYS starving)...then we're off to do whatever he wants to do. Sometimes we go to the museum, or a movie. Other times we just go to the library, or the bookstore.....or, a tour of local pet stores (he LOVES hanging out at the pet store). He always calls Tuesdays his SPECIAL day and says it's his favorite day of the week. :-) I hope, when he's older he'll always smile on Tuesdays, remembering it's his SPECIAL day!

I begged for a long time, for a grandchild. I couldn't wait. I imagined how much I would enjoy this little person.........but I had no idea how much he would change my life. I'm just crrrrrazy about him. He is the light of my life and joy of my heart.........what an awesome kid.

Thank you Dodi for this precious gift!!!! You're a fabulous Mom........and nine years ago today was the second most glorious day of my life! (She's 38, but still likes to know she's still "got it").... :-)

Happy Birthday Pumpkin! I love you so much. You're a joy and a delight and I am so blessed to call you mine.

Happy Friday to all!

Huge hugs!
Spencer

PS...My boy forgot his lunch yesterday and his Papa.....yep, that would be my darling Hubbs, left work and took a lunch to him. Isn't that just toooooooo sweet? And by the way.............he's my daughter's stepdad!!.....he is ALWAYS there for this family. I am amazed at his devotion to this boy. My son-in-law died in a car accident, so my husband is the only MAN in my boy's life. How lucky we are to have him. God is soooooo good. He never calls Brett his wife's grandson either!!! :-) He ALWAYS refers to my daughter as his daughter (she positively adores him) and Brett as his grandson. Can you believe it??? Gosh, I am one lucky gal!

If you're looking for your own Mr. Right....don't give up! He's out there ......and.........he's looking for YOU! God has a plan for each of us.........be patient. You'll bump into each other! I did. :-) I could never have imagined my life could be so wonderful.

Thank you Father God for providing for my family. I am more grateful than I can say....

Yep! It's A Happy Wednesday!

I took my girl for a spin around the neighborhood to get a breath of fresh air.....I LOVE some of these houses. This one is owned by a landscape architect. I drive by it regularly to admire it. It's beautiful during any season, but spring is starting to peek through here in the NW, so it's especially lovely....

Even the driveway is beautiful!

I took this picture because the garage was so pretty. It was prettier in person!

They have a lovely view of Puget Sound..........ahhhhhhhh.......just dreaming.......oh how I wish.....

What a darling little cottage!

It looks like they just planted to posies along the walk........ :-)

I am loving the porch on this old girl......isn't the retaining wall great??

Thanks so much for your visit........

Please continue to pray for my girl. She's having lots of pain. We'll be taking her to the doctor tomorrow. We had to take the pup to the vet today. She has a gimpy leg too....I think it's sympathy pains!

My little grandson was in the newspaper today for his artwork! They'll be making a poster of the three top winners of the EARTH day competition (scroll down to see his entry) and posting them in the libraries and the zoo! He's a STAR!

Grateful hugs and blessings!

Thank You Jesus! My Girl Is Doing GREAT!!!

Thank you so much for your prayers for my daughter. She's up and about a tiny bit today. No infection at all.......YIPPPPEEEEEE! It hurts, but that's to be expected. I am CRAZY about her Dr. He's such a wonderful man. I went to Dodi's pre-op appointment with her and couldn't believe this man's patience. We asked a lot of questions and he treated us as though we were his ONLY patients that day. You know how sometimes the Dr. will practically talk to you with his hand on the doorknob waiting to escape?? Not so with this great fellow. I was in the room with Dodi waiting for her turn at the O.R......when this wonderful GODLY man popped in to pray with us before the surgery. How wonderful was that? :-) But wait! There's more.....he called this morning to ask how she was doing and talked with Dodi for about 10 minutes, again answering all her questions. After the surgery he gave me his personal cell phone number so I could call with ANY concerns. This man was an answer to prayer and a wonderful doctor. God is soooooo gooooood. I had never even heard of him.......why, I wonder??? At any rate, thank you so very much for all of your prayers. I am humbled and grateful. I received so many wonderful messages from you awesome gals. It touched my heart.
Blessing YOU!
Spencer
Oh, and by the way, it's no wonder she was in so much pain. She had two large tears in her meniscus and her cartilage is "toast".......poor thing....

Remembering Mike

On September 9th, 1995, my sweet daughter married her prince charming. They were so in love and so happy. They wanted to have a child so badly, but wanted to wait until everything was in order.......to be settled, have a home and work on their careers.

June 12, 2000 my darling Brett was born. Oh, how I love that boy. He was so fortunate to have a dad who was enthralled with fatherhood. He couldn't wait to be able to spend time with his son. Mike worked full time and went to college full time, but still found time for Brett. Such a happy family.

On March 7th, 2003, on his way home from work, Mike was killed in a car accident. My daughter has shown a resilience and strength I don't think she knew she had. She's an awesome mom, devoted to motherhood and to her child. I'm so proud of her, at the same time so sorry for her loss. But, my heart is breaking for my sweet grandson. He has memories of his dad, but is reminded constantly that other kids have two parents. It's so hard to see him hurting. They told us early on that at each different stage of his life there would be a new sense of loss and grief.

God bless you, dear family. I love you so much, and I'm so grateful that we have a loving God who cares for you and who has held you up along the way.

Loving you more than you'll ever know....
Mummy/Hemma

Shots of my Darling Daughter's house.......she's so much fun and likes LOTS of stuff too! No point in having any wasted space, now is there??? :-)

I love, love, love this shelf.........I'm thinking I should sneak in one day when she's not home and swipe it.........think she'd notice???

Table..........Mummy's
Chair.........Mummy's
Lamp.........gift from Mummy
But really.......it works the other way too! I have lots of things from
her house too!

Sweet little baby picture...........Yeah...........me..........
I love her angel collection. I want to swipe those too!

Just too sweet, isn't it???

Love the angel wings too! :-)

Yeah.........more from her Mummy.............I just finished this little lovely for myself and my dearest husband gave it to her............I sure miss it!

Oh my gosh........I had so many things to do today and have spent most of the day sitting here trying to get things to work. What a process. I have made some great discoveries along the way, but still haven't accomplished my first objective. Reallllllly........how hard can this be??? Well, if you're me.........just pretty dang tough!

I'm going to keep right on working on it. I think the books will help! Hopefully... ;-)

Sunny Smiles and Best Wishes for
A Wonderful Weekend!

Well, isn't this disappointing news..........Illuminations (that fabulous candle store) is going out of business. That is just too sad. Their Stargazer Lily candle is my very favorite. It's PINK AND it smells yummy. They're having great sales, so if you're in need of a candle supply, now is the time to stock up. Good News/Bad News! :-(

My daughter (Dodi.........that's like DOE DI...........not Dotty....).......and I went to the cemetery the other day to see my Mum's flowers. My dad is buried right next to her...........there were ten dice on his headstone? How strange is that? I cannot figure out who would have put them there and why?? My Mum's headstone is there now too. It makes it seem real now. I still have a flash about twenty times a day when I think "I'm going to go call my Mum"........I miss her so much.

The BIG antique show is this weekend. Dodi and I are going. Who knows what cute little trinket I may find? I LOVE the THRILL OF THE HUNT.......that's why I love thrifting so much. You just never know what fabulous things you may find. Often when we go I'll zip past a booth, just perusing, my daughter going in behind me.........she ALWAYS comes out waving some wonderful find! Oh.......that is soooooooooo frustrating. We have the same taste and collect nearly the same things so it's always a quest to see who can get to the Good Stuff first! A couple of weeks ago we were at the Goodwill........I was buying this darling large wicker chair for my porch and when we went to the back area to pay for it was the MOST adorable little English oak secretary desk. It has a bow top and is ever so tiny. Well, my house is tiny.........tiny desk.............It will be mine! YIPPEEEE........And there stands my darling daughter who earlier that day had lost $150..........I felt so sad for her.........."yes, my dear daughter.......you can have the desk".........in perfect condition.......so darling.........and here's the best part.............TWENTY ONE DOLLARS! How can that be? I'll get a snap of it soon and post the little cutie. And, that meant that I couldn't get the wicker chair because I couldn't fit both of them in my car.........darn it!

Today I'll finish cleaning. I'm going to go see my little grandson this evening. He's having trouble with another boy at school. He told his mom the other day that 'Joe' was his Nemesis! He's EIGHT! Too darn smart.

Hope you have a wonderful day. I'm going to enjoy my cleaning......ok, so I'm not going to enjoy the process, but I'll enjoy the finished product!

Warm Blessings.....
Spencer
