Pink Saturday.....And, A Birthday

Hi chickies.... and Happy Pink Saturday!

And, as a matter of fact.... It's my BIRTHDAY too! :-)

My daughter's taking me out for the day... We're going to do a bit of thrifting, hit some antique stores and have a nice lunch... Then, on Sunday, the Hubbs and I are going to have a day out. Hey.... gotta stretch these special days out, right?

Isn't the pink box just perfect for Pink Saturday?

I've been going to post this for Pink Saturday for so darn long. My daughter, grandson and I went to Portland for the weekend several months ago..... My daughter had heard about this doughnut spot called Voodoo Doughnut. Well, I have an aversion to anything with Voodoo in the name, but we decided to go check it out. Yep, I'm a nice Mum like that. :-)

It's just about the funkiest place you've ever seen......

They only accept cash.... so they have this ATM inside....

Worth the Weight.... :-) I'm doing really well in that department right now, so it wouldn't be to me.

Well, darn it allllllllllll........... I have pictures of the LONG, LONG lines you have to wait in to even get inside this tiny place.....and for some reason they've disappeared.... but trust me. We waited about 1/2 hour for our turn.

My beautiful daughter and cute-as-can-be grandson..........waiting, waiting, waiting.

This is the one I chose.....Cocoa Puffs on top.... I wasn't all that crazy about it.

They have some really weird flavors. I can't even remember all of them, but the selection is unlike any doughnut place I've ever been in.

My daughter is more adventurous than I am. She bought several of these........I thought it was the most disgusting looking thing ever.......but it was YUMMMM-O! Just like breakfast......maple and bacon. Next time I'm getting this flavor!

So if you're in Portland, you may want to pop by for a nice BaconMapleBarBreakfast!

Have a wonderful weekend dear ones........and thank you so much for all your kind words on my studio. I'm trying to get to visit each of you, but it's taking a while to get down the list.

It Really IS The Little Things

A fresh bouquet of snowballs, my Japanese Cherry Blossom candle burning and Stacey Kent is singing. It's a DEE.LISH day at Bellamere Cottage.

Thinking about firing up the sewing machine.

Hope you're having a wonderful Saturday too.

Happy Polka Dot Pink Saturday! :-)

Spencer, where have you been, you ask?? :-)

Well, this little baby has taken a LOT of my time.

I did have a tiny iPod shuffle, but have never had a REAL iPod.

Even my cell phone is just a standard model . I used to work for a Dr. who was linked to the hospital. We got a killer plan on phone service so I signed right up. It was $6.60 per month. Yeah, Tightwad Tilly was in heaven then and STILL is! How could I possibly give that great plan up??? I've had it for THIRTEEN years. :-)

If I want to have all the great stuff that comes with the smart phones I have to upgrade my plan. That's not going to happen. I'm hanging on to my SIX DOLLAR and SIXTY cent plan.... unheard of these days..... Probably because there isn't another living soul out there as tight as I am. :-)

This is my compromise.

It does have a BIG learning curve for those of us who are over SIXTY though.

We have over 400 CD's I've been adding to itunes. Whew.......now that's REALLY time consuming....I think I'm about half done. Now, if I could just figure out how to put the tunes on the little pink bit of technology. :-)

It's a 64 gb model.......they say it will hold something like 40,000 songs.......or some such thing. I just can't wrap my mind around that. AMAZING! Especially when I can remember albums.........and 8-track tapes.... that's just sad.

I can peek at my blog....and see who's been by to say hi........I LOVE it when you leave me a message. It makes me soooooo happy.

And, I can keep my notes and lists here too. That is just awesome. I can barely believe how much it can do. I spent hours shopping for apps. I even have a LEVEL on it. You never know when that'll come in handy. I have a measuring tape too, but I don't think it's very accurate.

I can see what I'm missing in Honolulu.......London.........Paris.........

Or see if we're going to see some sunshine here anytime in the near future. Yeah, probably not.

I confess..........THIS is my FAVORITE app. I can't even begin to imagine how many games of cribbage I've played. I wish the game had a scorecard though. I keep wondering if I'm ahead of my opponent. :-)

The Hubbs and I play cribbage from time to time.... I'm thinking I'm going to wow him with my new skills. :-)

Honestly.......it's the bestestest thing ever. I take it to bed with me.......read my email........play cribbage.........and if needed, it makes an excellent flashlight too. Talk about multi-purpose, right?

Now, if any of you sweet little chickies would like to direct an "older" gal.... :-) on how to get those darn songs onto this thing that would be just AWESOME. ***Note*** You can't keep this old girl down.... I figured it out.... How exciting is that? We have a stereo system with sound surround....that's the next step..... hooking this handy, dandy little device up to that..... Ummmhmmmm..... tunes all over this little cottage.

I'm joining the Wonderful Miss Beverly over at

You'll want to pop over for a visit there too. It's a great shin-dig.

Have a wonderful weekend dear ones.

God bless you.

Pink, Pink and MORE Pink!

Hi chickies and HAPPY PINK SATURDAY!

I haven't come to this party in awhile...things have been so hectic here at the cottage...but I'm happy to be here today.

I swear, when I was born, I popped out in a pink tutu, just like this one. I've allllways been a frilly lovin' girlie....

And, although I don't even remember it.... I probably had a little frock just like this one.

And, surely shoes to go with it just like these... :-)

And, in the years to come....lots and lots of dresses like this one.....

With matching handbags.. :-)

My poor Mum... I don't know how she did it. I was born in the era when Mum's starched their daughter's little dresses, and if mine got the teeniest bit soiled I wanted a clean one ASAP.

I didn't wear my first pair of pants until I was eight years old. I LOVED wearing a dress, why would I want to wear icky pants??? :-) I had long, blond curls to my waist and HATED to have my hair in a pony tail..... That just was NOT cute. See, pretty darn prissy. Yep, as a matter of fact, still am. Although I don't don those little pink tulle numbers too much anymore. :-) And, I wear pants allllll the time.....

It would have been so much easier on my Mum had I been born in the wash and dry era..... She'd have saved so many hours slaving over a hot ironing board.... Bless her little heart.

Have a wonderful Pink Saturday dear ones.

Big huggies and lovies,
Spencer

It's Pink Saturday Dear Chickies!

Oh my goodness..........is this not the MOST delish pink??? It made me laugh...somebody has some seriously great sewing talent and a thing for pink! Well, and pom-poms! I wish I could have gotten a better scan, but the 'ol HP was being temperamental. I swear, I'd giggle every morning, when I walked into the kitchen, if this was mine. :-)

This was my Mother's Day card from my girl.

Inside it said:

When it comes to being a Mom,
you've got it covered!
Thanks for making it so cozy.

Happy Mother's Day.

Do you think she knows I love pink?

A birthday card from a friend.....she KNOWS what I love. :-)

Why can't I find one of these for my very own self???

Could they be any prettier?? I so wish they were mine. I bought a pink rose bush on a really hot day, when I really wasn't in the mood. It's just not my favorite. I'm going to have to spend some serious time looking for a better variety. We had four HUGE ones at our old house.... Must have been there forever.....and they were DELISH! I miss them so much.

How I wish this was my main ride! A nice basket on the front and I'd be good to go! It would make me happy just to see it in the garage.......which is exactly where it would stay if it were mine. I broke my leg walking.... I think a bike is out of the question. And, to think I used to be able to stand up on the seat when I was a kid. (That and rolling a burn barrel all over the yard for hours). Gosh that was fun.....and sooooooooooo long ago I'm surprised I can still remember it. YIKES!

You'll want to see loads of other happy pinks so go to:

www.howsweetthesound.typepad.com

and visit that sweet little Beverly over there......she features some special girlies every week....you won't want to miss them.

Have a wonderful weekend little sweeties.

I'll be up to my eyeballs in the garage sale.....well, I'm sure hoping to be. I'll let you know how it went. The weather is supposed to cool down a little bit tomorrow. It was soooo hot and miserable for the past few days.

Lovies!

PS..... I am one crazy girlie... Oh my gosh I think I was up way too late last night. I thought it was Friday night and I'd better hurry and get my Saturday post up... When I got to bed the Hubbs told me it was THURSDAY. So everything is all out of whack!!!

But, hey! I'm EARLY and that almost NEVER happens. :-)

Happy, HAPPY Pink Saturday!

Hi Sweet Chickies!

And, Happy Pink Saturday...

Oh my goodness, they sure roll around quickly, don't they?

I hope you're having great weather and your posies are growing well.

Do you have a fabulous vacation in the planning?

We've had such crummy weather here. I'm hoping my posies start looking a smidge better soon.

Aren't these delish?

YUMMMY!

My dear friend brought me a huge bouquet from her garden a few days ago.

Don't you love girlies who share? :-)

And, am I tickled pink???

Oh my....

You can't imagine how much!

My precious little grandson just turned TEN.

I can hardly believe it.

It was an awesome week in this little guy's life...........and HEAVEN for his Mommy and Grandma.

I've talked about this in a previous post....he has Asperger's Syndrome. (It's on the Autism spectrum).

And, his dad was killed in a car accident when he was 2 1/2.

He was struggling at school, unable to make friends and having a tough time with a teacher who should have retired YEARS ago.

I have NOTHING constructive to say about this woman, so I'll just leave it there.

My daughter did a lot of research and found another school in his district that she thought would suit him better.

He went from hanging his head every day when he walked out of school to one of the happiest kids ever. He began to LOVE school and was soooo sad when the end of the year came.

His teacher was WONDERFUL beyond belief.

Mrs. G.....we're so grateful to you.

You ARE WONDERFUL.

My daughter had a birthday party for him last year and only THREE kids came. They were her friend's children.

It was heartbreaking.

This is his party this YEAR!

THIRTEEN KIDS CAME. THIRTEEN!

It makes me tear up just to say that.

In two short months he DID make friends. So much for the atmosphere at the old school.

The party was at the bowling alley across the street from his new school.

Even the principal walked over to wish him Happy Birthday.

WONDERFUL!

He just finished third grade.

He's been staying with me for the past week. I always lay on the bed with him at night so we can talk or read before we say his prayers.

We were talking about his past two teachers last night.

He told me that they did an art project in second grade where they were supposed to tear construction paper into shapes to signify parts of the earth... Sky, grass, clouds etc.

This kid is one of the MOST artistic kids EVER.

He added two trees to his picture.

The teacher TORE IT UP.

She was MAD at him because he added something he wasn't supposed to add.

My heart broke.

REALLY.

How could anyone be so cruel?

That is just unbelievable to me.

I love him so much. He has so much to give. He is truly my joy in life.

Thank you Jesus for giving my boy a fresh start in a place that really embraces kids.

ALL KIDS.

I am so grateful.

Thank you for coming today.

Thank you for sharing my joy.

I love you tons!

Have a wonderful weekend.

Huggies and LOVIES.

Happy Second Birthday Pink Saturday!

Happy Pink Saturday Sweet Girlies..........

It's a big birthday for that special day of pink beauty.

I hope you'll buzz right over and wish Miss Beverly a Happy Day.

She's been so sweet to put this event on every, single week for us.

www.howsweetthesound.typepad.com

One of these days I WILL learn how to add a link. :-)

Oh yes.........I have been over at the Cath Kidston website shopping around. I ADORE everything and as soon as my ship comes in I'm gonna fill the darn thing FULL of Cath Kidston.

It's the happiest stuff, I think.

I've already shown you this little box bag before. I actually own this little cutie. It cost nearly as much to ship it as it did for the darn bag, but I LOVE it. My daughter and grandson think it looks like a lunch box. Oh well, maybe I'll just put a sammie in there too.

Oh, how I need these right now..........It has been raining here, in the Pacific Northwest NON-STOP!

And this!

Floor tile. Now, this is one of the cutest darn things I've ever seen............ *sigh*... :-)

I swear, everything would taste better on these cute little plates, don'tcha think?

And, I wouldn't mind washing them with these on my little fingers.

Well, I'd actually prefer a GREAT BIG 'OL diamond..........but as a second choice... :-)

Don't tell the Hubbster................He's rush right out and buy these for me and think he'd get off realllly cheap.

What a cheery little kitchen item. I need it.

The English call clothespins pegs......Store those little cuties from the past in this handy, dandy bag. It makes you want to hang the laundry on the line, doesn't it? Yeah, that won't be happening here anytime soon...........They'd NEVER get dry. It's a BEEEE.U.TI.FUL green place to live.........but let me tell 'ya...........it's WET!

My posies will NEVER grow!

I hope you're spending a wonderful Memorial Day weekend with family and friends, doing something realllly special. I'll be spending it with my daughter..............Picnic, you ask?

No.

Shopping?

No.

She's going to come and help me paint............the master bath and bedroom!

Isn't that just the best?

Gosh I love her. She has a three day weekend and she's spending it helping her Mum. I'm soooo glad she's mine. We'll have lots of fun and there will be lots of giggling, I'm sure.

The sewing is ALL finished and I'm ready to go.

Huggies and Lovies Dear Ones....

Tea And Cupcakes For Pink Saturday!

Hi Sweeties and Happy Pink Saturday!

And, Happy Mother's Day too....

I have searched for a tea cozy forever. I planned to do some wool applique and make one for myself UNTIL....I was poking around the net one day and ran across one of the cutest things I'd ever seen. I saved the picture so I could order it later, but totally forgot to make a note about the seller. Months went by...and, on yet another internet excursion I found a gal who was selling handmade crocheted items on etsy.....

I sent her a picture and asked if she could whip one up for me...

And, in a couple of short weeks this little beauty arrived!

Now, isn't that soooo stinking cute? I love pink and yellow together, but it's the black that makes my heart go pitty-pat.

You can find her under Tafferty Designs.

She's from the UK and did a super duper job on my little cutie.

Now I don't want to use it.....What if it got dirty? :-)

Every cute teapot needs a cute little cupcake too, right?

I had seen these little cuties lots of places so I started collecting sweaters to make some for myself.

This one is cashmere and lambs wool and the little cherry is needle felted.

I simply ADORE wool!

It's so forgiving and so much fun to work with.

Mmmmmmmmm.........it's looking yummy now, right? Calorie free too.

Oh yes, Spencer........that's a VERY good thing!

See that DELISH tole tray peeking out from behind?

That's my Mother's Day present from my fabulous, wonderful, sweet and beautiful daughter.

Gosh she knows what Mama likes!

As I've said before, I started this blog because my sweet Mum passed away and I wanted to try to fill the gap and grieve in a way that would be a bit positive.....can it be?

I still miss her SOOOO much. She was my #1 Cheerleader. She was always so thrilled with everything I made..........life just isn't the same without her.

So, if you're a motherless daughter I totally understand and my heart goes out to you.

I'm sending you huge hugs.

A Tickled Pink...Pink Saturday!

Hey Girlies!

Happy Pink Saturday!

Oh my gooooodness..........Is that not the PRETTIEST "snow" you've ever seen?

I was coming home from the one hundred forty nine two thirtieth visit to the darn chiropractor when I saw this glorious PINK yard.... My head snapped back and my car zipped around the block, so I could take a snap, before I even knew what happened!

I wish my yard looked like that.

Don't you love driving down the street when those lovely pink blossoms are blowing all over just like snow?

Now, about the tickled PINK bit....

I mentioned awhile back that my daughter was going to take my little grandson out of his school and move him to a new school.

He has Asperger's Syndrome and not only were they not working with him AT ALL, it was the MOST negative environment I've EVER seen. He came out of school every day with his head hanging down and wouldn't talk all the way home.

When my DD went to pick up all his things from his desk, at the old school, his teacher was horrible. She didn't even tell my grandson goodbye and good luck or anything.

Ditto the principle who told my daughter that she was making a big mistake and she would be sorry.

See what I mean here?

Well, he's been at his new school NINE days and he's like a NEW kid!

He yells goodbye to his friends as he leaves and walks on air to the car....then chatters about his day all the way home.

His teacher is FAB.U.LOUS!

I love you Mrs. G!

When my boy walked into the classroom, on his first day, there was a sign welcoming him to the class. Everyone was looking forward to meeting him.

His teacher is beyond awesome.

She's a young teacher and obviously LOVES her job.

Now, nothing against teachers out there........Please don't take this the wrong way.....but his OLD teacher would always criticize and say...."Bummer for YOU"....to my little fella.

I think she should retire. She does NOT love her job.....and it SHOWS.

And, that is NOT an ageism thing...........I'm OLD too! :-)

So, this is one very happy Grandma. I love this child more than I could ever express.

He is the JOY of my heart.

I could cry I'm so happy.

Now, this is PINK SATURDAY....and I know you're anxious to get around and see some yummy pink stuff....

So....

Go here:

You won't be sorry!

You're the VERY BEST!

Thank you for coming and for your loving support.

Could you please pray for my sweet BECKY at www.holidayinthesun.blogspot.com?

She's in the midst of lots of testing and could soooo use prayer.

Pinking At The Cottage

Hi Girlies!

And, Happy Pink Saturday.....

Don'tcha just love peeking around at the lovely and delicious shade of pink?

It makes my heart sing.

Bidden or Unbidden
God is Always Present.

I LOVE that little phrase, don't you?

Ahhh.....My very favorite fake posies. Eddie Bauer had these many years ago. I bought them on clearance for a song. I'm crazy about them....even if they are fake!

Oh YES......more fake posies. I really love 'em. Chintz teapot orphan (she lost her lid, darn it all).

And, my souvenir from my trip to Kansas. Old Yellow Dog.

A frame made into a tray....with barkcloth under glass.

Yep, I know I've told you I'm Tightwad Tilly. You really don't think that's a REAL piece of barkcloth do you? Nahhhh.....It's a handy dandy photocopy. Hey, it works....don't laugh.

Cracking myself up here..........MORE fake posies? Ah, come on Spencer.

Oh Holy Moly....It's the REAL deal?

Even I am excited.

Now I just know you don't have your pink appetite satisfied with these puny little pix.

For lots more Pink FUN...

Go Here:

www.howsweetthesouond.typepad.com/myweblog

Now, go have yourself a wonderful weekend.

We're supposed to have sunshine here in the Pacific Northwest.

Now, THAT'S a BIG deal here chickies.

Huge huggies to all of you dear ones.

I am so pleased and thrilled that you chose to spend a bit of your Saturday with me.

Oh How I Love My Birthday Girl! Let's Celebrate Pink Saturday Too!

April 10th, 1971..........One of the VERY happiest days of my life......

Even as a little girl myself I dreamed of growing up and being a mommy......It's all I ever really wanted. And, I so hoped to have a little girl.

Oh how God blessed me.

Today is that little girlie's Birthday.

Where have 39 years gone?

I can hardly believe it.

If you have a little one enjoy this special time........It'll be gone before you know it.

I don't know why her eyes look brown in nearly all of these pictures.

They were SOOOO blue!

So were my grandson's until about two years ago or so....My daughter's and my grandson's both turned GREEN the same year. Isn't that odd?

Baby Dodi...........on her first birthday......sorry the picture is so blurry. I had to scan old pictures.

One and a half........Isn't she adorable?

I had to throw this picture in........I shared a picture of her on Easter wearing this as a pinafore over a dress.........she wore it for a LONG time.......now over jeans. Boy we got a lot of mileage out of it! :-)

She was crazy about pink.......(and still is)....and wore it all the time.

And, had a PINK room too.

Just look at that lovely 1970's style..........GROOVY!

Reading in bed........she still likes to have a good book or magazine in bed... :-)

Growing up........Nine years old...........

Yep, still loves jewelry too!

My sweet girl with the doll I made for her. It was the year that Xavier Roberts' Little People came out..........they were $125.00.......way out of my budget, so I made this doll for her.

Don't know exactly what was going on with her hair......I can't think of any good excuses either.

Fortunately she knows how to handle her hair now and is known among her friends as the girl with the shampoo ad hair.....It's BEAUTIFUL!

Look at those freckles!

And, the first day of school her senior year......

I took her picture coming out of that very same door every single year on the first day of school.

As I was putting this post together I thought how silly I was not to have used her birthday pix through the years...... I'll remember that next year!

I had a hard time rustling these up......My sweet daughter's been over many times going through the old snaps, so MANY are missing....

She was such a joy as a child and has grown into the MOST wonderful woman.

I'm so proud of her..........Sooooo proud.

She has a WONDERFUL sense of humor. Everyone around her is laughing constantly. She is hilarious. :-)

And, she has the biggest heart of anyone I've ever known. Truly. I've never seen anything like it. So generous and sweet. I learn from her all the time.

She has worked since she was 16..........REALLY.....she wanted a job so badly that she pestered them at the Safeway constantly until they told her they'd hire her as soon as she turned sixteen.........so, the day after her 16th birthday she went to work.........and has worked ever since.

I'll be spending her big day with her.....we're going to go shopping and somewhere yummy for lunch..... I can hardly wait.

My darling daughter...........You are such a treasure. I love you to bits.

I'm the lucky one......and SO blessed.

Happy, Happy Birthday!

Mummy

xoxoxoxox

Y.M.L.Y.

PS............I laughed myself silly over some of the comments on my Easter post.......

A couple girlies referenced the VINTAGE pictures...........OH MY! :-)

That's when you're sure you're older than dirt.

And, now that you've made it through that really long post.......I know you'd love to peek at some lovely pinkies.......

Please go and have yourself a little visit with Miss Beverly at:

www.howsweetthesound.typepad.com

Huggies and Lovies,
