I Still Miss You Mummy

I've made it three and half years without my Mum....

How did that happen?

I swore my life was over.  I couldn't go on without this sweet woman...  always there for me.  My cheerleader.  Confidant.  BLESSING.

I've cried many tears lately.

Missing her.

That horrible gut-wrenching pain..........there again.

Wondering if it was the anticipation of another Mother's Day without her.

Thankfully, I was truly blessed....   she was a great Mum...  the BEST....  I learned so much from her.

Miss you Mummy........I'm blowing you a special Mother's Day kiss today.

Mother's Day

Happy Mother's Day Sweet Chickies!

My Mummy's gone to be with Jesus....I miss her soooo much. How I'd love to just sit and have a cup of tea with her. She was the sweetest little thing.

Years ago I found a little vintage motto that I framed and gave to her. It's super tiny, so I couldn't take a photo of it.... But, it says.........

Dear little, sweet little, kind little Mother.
Sharing my troubles and drying my tears.
Smiling and hoping and dreaming and loving.
Holding me close to her all through the years.
Climbing the heights with me, giving me courage.
Walking the valleys, so close to my side.
Always so loyal, though others may waver.
Trusting, believing, whatever betide;
Bright is her smile like the gold of the sunshine,
Warming and cheering my heart like no other-
Blessings surround her, and joy light her pathway.
Dear little, sweet little, kind little Mother.

Perfect for my Mum....

So precious to me.

And, this..........from the internet yesterday....

If flowers grow in heaven Lord, then pick a bunch for me....... place them in my Mum's arms and tell her they're from me. Tell her that I love and miss her, and when she turns to smile, place a kiss upon her cheek and held her for awhile.

Missing you Mum.

Love,
Me

Tea And Cupcakes For Pink Saturday!

Hi Sweeties and Happy Pink Saturday!

And, Happy Mother's Day too....

I have searched for a tea cozy forever. I planned to do some wool applique and make one for myself UNTIL....I was poking around the net one day and ran across one of the cutest things I'd ever seen. I saved the picture so I could order it later, but totally forgot to make a note about the seller. Months went by...and, on yet another internet excursion I found a gal who was selling handmade crocheted items on etsy.....

I sent her a picture and asked if she could whip one up for me...

And, in a couple of short weeks this little beauty arrived!

Now, isn't that soooo stinking cute? I love pink and yellow together, but it's the black that makes my heart go pitty-pat.

You can find her under Tafferty Designs.

She's from the UK and did a super duper job on my little cutie.

Now I don't want to use it.....What if it got dirty? :-)

Every cute teapot needs a cute little cupcake too, right?

I had seen these little cuties lots of places so I started collecting sweaters to make some for myself.

This one is cashmere and lambs wool and the little cherry is needle felted.

I simply ADORE wool!

It's so forgiving and so much fun to work with.

Mmmmmmmmm.........it's looking yummy now, right? Calorie free too.

Oh yes, Spencer........that's a VERY good thing!

See that DELISH tole tray peeking out from behind?

That's my Mother's Day present from my fabulous, wonderful, sweet and beautiful daughter.

Gosh she knows what Mama likes!

As I've said before, I started this blog because my sweet Mum passed away and I wanted to try to fill the gap and grieve in a way that would be a bit positive.....can it be?

I still miss her SOOOO much. She was my #1 Cheerleader. She was always so thrilled with everything I made..........life just isn't the same without her.

So, if you're a motherless daughter I totally understand and my heart goes out to you.

I'm sending you huge hugs.

Missing My Dear, Sweet Mum On Mother's Day....

My Sweet Mum passed away the day after Christmas last year. I actually started this blog to help deal with the loss. This will be the first Mother's Day I won't be able to have her with me........to pamper and celebrate her. She was just the sweetest Mum ever.

This picture was taken just before she passed away. She was so sick, but my darling daughter and grandson came over for the day to be with her. She taught us how to make her famous Rhubarb Custard Pie that day. This is the very last picture I have of her. I'm so glad we took snaps that day. They say you can tell a lot about the body language in a picture......look how she has her arms all wrapped up in mine.........Isn't that just so sweet? Bless her little heart, she had bandages on both arms. Her skin was so thin that if you just bumped her she would bleed and she fell all the time. There is nothing worse than hearing your sweet Mum fall. It broke my heart.

During her last years she moved to a bottom floor apartment. The bedroom window faced the parking lot. She didn't live far from me so I'd zip over to see her often. I'd call when I was nearly there......when I drove up she'd be standing in that window waiting for me and when I left she'd stand there and wave good-bye. It made me so sad, even then. She loved me so much, and like lots of mom's, her biggest joy was just spending time with me. As soon as she opened the door she always said..........."HI HONEY.........I'll put on the tea"..........Gosh she was sweet.

My Mum at about 20.........wasn't she just a doll???

Sweet Mum...........she's about 60 here........She has her head cocked the exact same way!

I'm the kind of girl who needs to do "concrete" things when I'm hurting.......this is the memory jar I made for my Mum.........It has a picture of her, her favorite earrings, a tea cup she gave to me, her watch, a love letter from my Dad and a little sign I made for her that she had in her bathroom........"You are so loved, my sweet Mum".........I don't know why it comforts me, but it does.

I don't know if you've been over to St. Michael's Wife's blog, but she wrote this comment on my blog......it meant the world to me......I'll print it out and keep it with my special things.

Welcome home, sweet friend! Your Mum won't be here Sunday, but YOU will. And, obviously your Mum taught you a lot about being a great Mum because I'm sure that's how Dodi would describe you. So, in reality, you've been honoring your precious Mum the entire time you've been taking care of your own baby and HER baby! think how proud your Mum would be! Seeing the Mum YOU are is the most wonderful way you can express your appreciation for your Mum. She has passed the crown to you, and now is your time to allow Dodi to express her appreciation for you. And so the blessing within the circle of life continues!

Celebrate who your Mum was and who she raised you to be by choosing joy this week, dear one.

Isn't that just the sweetest message? What a great gal St. Michael's Wife is. If you haven't met this lovely Christian gal before, please go see her. You'll love her too! :-)

Isn't the blog-world just wonderful? I've met so many wonderful women here......And, I appreciate all of you more than I can say.

Thank you so much for your visit today and for taking a moment to read about my special, precious Mum.........the Mum who always thought I was the best thing ever.........the Mum I always turned to........And, the Mum who, when I had a problem, would say........."Ok Honey......I have to go now.........I need to go get on my knees. How blessed I am to have had my sweet Mum for 58 years!

I hope you'll get to spend the day with your Mum and that you're as lucky as I was.......

Happy Mother's Day to you and YOUR Mum......

Hugs and blessings,
Spencer
