Frost On The Pumpkin

Holy moly......it's SOOOO cold here in the Northwest. I think my personal thermostat is broken. I am cold.......reallllly cold ALL the time. I'm telling 'ya......I get in the car and fire up the heater until my pants are nearly flamin'..... and I'm still cold.

My daughter, grandson and I went to see White Christmas at the theater last night and I nearly froze to death. Down coat, gloves (with little heater thingies inside) TWO fleece throws and I was still shivering.... but that movie is just too sweet to miss on the big screen. I've watched it every year for a million years......ok, so now you know how old I really am, right?

My Honey calls me a wimp.

Yep, I know it's time to pitch the pumpkins, but my husband just loves 'em.... I asked him to toss them last weekend, but he's holding firm.... not yet.

Hoping to do the Christmas stuff this weekend, so I'm hoping he'll be ready by then. :-)

As I've said before......everything is itsy-bitsy here, at the cottage, and the back yard is no exception, but I love it anyway. It always feels so cozy to me and I'm grateful to get to look out my sliding glass door and all the little "stuff" out there.

That baby tears makes my heart go pitty-pat.... I have some in the front yard... I dig up a smidge of it every spring and stick it into that cement pot........isn't it so sweet? And, that great topiary? Yep, two hangers, duct taped together, and bent into a circle..... a few starts from another topiarty and voila!

Nothing survives winter here, in the Pacific Northwest, but I'll enjoy the blessings of God while I can.

Have a great weekend little darlin's....

Hoping to get some Christmas-ing done..... are you working on things too?

Yipppeeee!

Happy Tuesday Sweet Chickies!

Thank you, thank you, thank you.

I appreciate your prayers so much. You are so dear and sweet and FAITH.FUL.

I talked to the Dr. and the only thing out of whack was my calcium.

It's a bit high.

Now, you'd think having LOTS of calcium would be a really, really good thing, right?

Well, it seems that's just not great.

Especially since I've already broken my femur.

Another blood test and then I guess we'll see what's next.

So............all that upset and fretting was pointless. You would think I would have learned that by now. I wasn't trusting God. My faith was weak.

Shame on me.

Now, see that sweet little topiary?

Tightwad Tilly strikes again.

Coat hanger.

Bent into a circle, stuck in the dirt and a few snippets of ivy from another plant.

And, we have a nice, full topiary. FREE. Oh, how I LOVE free.

Try it.... You'll be surprised!

And, frugal. I LOVE frugal. Don'cha think frugal sounds better than cheap? :-)

I love clay pots when they're all yukky... junk growing on them..... fertilizer salts... dirt, whatever. I saw somewhere that you can put a thin cement on the outsides of them, in spots, to make them yukky... Would any of you dear chickies know how to do that??

Because, for sure, I NEED one more project. :-)

Have a wonderful day dear ones.

I'm grateful to you. More than I can say.

Hi Girlies! Don't You Just Love Cute Yard Art???

Hi Sweet little Chickies!

I just had to share this with you. As I've said, I had a garage sale with my sweet friend, Jan, a couple of weeks ago....Her home AND yard are simply stunning....everyone who came to the garage sale RAVED about her home.......It's sooo pretty. I should have taken pictures of the outside of her house; I'll do that soon.........you will LOVE it!!! These are pictures of her SIDE yard. They wanted the neighbors to have something pretty to look at when they drove into their driveway.....all together now............ahhhhhhhhhhhhh! :-)

Jan's hubby is a CAN-DO kind of fella and made this bench. Is that not just the cutest darn thing? This would have been my coffee table choice if Jim had been able to squeeze it into his busy schedule.

Which reminds me....coffee table dilemma solved! I found one....and love it. I'll take pix soon!

I have three topiarys like that......Jan gave me a tip....another easy-peasy how-to. All you do to make the frame is bend a metal HANGER into a round shape, stick it into the dirt and add ivy. Now, isn't that great for a two minute job? It doesn't end up looking like a hanger does it?

I bought an ivy plant a long time ago. I have no idea what variety it is, but this is some super-sturdy stuff. I've taken a gazillion clippings off of it to start new plants. Just stick them into some water until you see roots and plant! FREE! I do love a nice thrifty little project with lots of ZIP! :-)

I've been soooo busy lately. My little grandson is out of school for the summer so he's been with me most of the time. I LOVE spending time with him.

And, my Darling Daughter and I are having a garage sale this weekend.....oh, I know what you're thinking.........didn't she just say she just HAD a garage sale? MMMMmmmm.....the answer to that would be YES......BUT.....I still have loads of stuff to pass on (read un-load) and my daughter takes right after her mother! You see....when you're a thrifty girl who loves a bargain it's easy to change things out.....Yeah, now the truth....I buy lots of things with hot ideas and change my mind. :-) Shhhh....don't tell the Hubbs!

Wishing you a beautiful Tuesday!!!!

Big hugs!
Spencer
