Show And Tell Friday And Giveaway Reminder

I'm so excited to join Show and Tell Friday with Cindy at

A few weeks ago I posted the before of this little lovely......You can see it here.... and read about the related tale of woe if you're interested. What a pickle this little cupboard was, but it's living it's re-done life in my little kitchen/dining room now and I must say, I'm pretty happy with it.

I bought the little basket awhile back at a thrift store. It was UGLY. I swear, no matter how long I live, I'll never stop being surprised by what a coat of paint will do to something.

I'm loving it now, and so happy that I didn't pitch it, which DID cross my mind. :-)

I've collected linens forever and don't have anywhere to use all of it so it's great to have a little bit of it on the bottom shelf of the cupboard where I can actually see it.

I have a darling little metal stand to replace the stool, but haven't gotten it painted yet. Isn't there always a project waiting?

Had I known the cupboard was going to end up being black instead of cream, I'd have bought new hardware for it..... but, I actually ended up liking it as is..... just plain and simple.

The 16th of November will be the last day to enter the little giveaway... be sure to pop by to enter on THIS post. (don't leave a giveaway comment on this post... ) My sweet little friend, Marydon looked up the value of the little pitcher and said it's 29.00, just for the pitcher. so the value of the giveaway is about $100.... Whooopppeeeee!

Have a wonderful weekend!

Lots going on here, at the Cottage.... I'll be sharing soon.

Huggies and Lovies!

Oh, and PS... did you notice I have a favicon now? Whew, I could have posted a million new posts had I been doing that instead of trying to get that gizmo to work. It's actually a tole tray, which you can't see because it's so darn small. There's no way I'm going to try to give it another whirl though. It was one big headache and I'm just happy it's there for now.

A Peek At The Bedroom At Bellamere Cottage

Hi Girlies!

Oh my gosh.........It's the Sunday Favorites Anniversary! A WHOLE year of lovely bloggers sharing their lives.

Have you ever visited the sweetest girlie, Chari, over at Happy To Design?
You won't want to miss this chance...she is so DEAR....what a delight. :-)

Right now I'm actually sewing for the master bedroom spring re-do so I thought it would be the perfect time to post pix of the room as it is now.

This post was originally from 4.18.09....just about one year ago!

Soooon it will be a blue room.

(I must say....I just took a peek at the post........I think it took me a smidge too long to get going.

How embarrassing.

It's in PRINT!

*******************************************

Original Post

I was going to wait to do pictures of the house after I finished Spring cleaning, but I'm not doing very well in that department. This grieving thing is so hard and I'm just not making any progress, unless you could call going in circles progress???? My Mum passed away the day after Christmas and I just am not myself. So on we go........The bed is new/old. About 15 years old, actually. I had it powder coated in white. It used to be a rather ugly green.

I love the fabric in here and in the bathroom. I think I bought it at least four times so when I was getting ready to do this room and was going through my "stash" I kept finding pieces of it.........obviously I must have intended it for the bedroom??? :-)

This is my hubby's favorite room in the house and it's the most feminine. I think men actually like all the foo-foo, they just don't like to admit it!

Ahhhhhhhhh...........the chandelier. Five dollars at a garage sale. It is actually just a drippy light fixture that I dolled up. It was brass and the "arms" are supposed to go down and hold those little glass shades that are screwed on??? I painted it, turned the arms upright, added the candle covers from the lighting store and went to town with crystal prisms. I beaded some little drops too. Easy peasy and CHEAP!

Click on any picture to enlarge.........

I "married" the two pieces on the right side of the bed. They're both just little pieces I've stacked up.

The side table on this side (my side) is a piece one of my sweet friends gave to me years ago. I love it!

I don't recall where I got the chair on the left........I've had it for a longgggg time. I do know I didn't pay much for it, I have a passion for chairs and have the hardest time passing one up. I just saw one this past week at the thrift store for six dollars. I had to tie my sweater sleeves in knots to get out of the store without it.

Twice a year we have an all-city garage sale here. I bought the little cabinet at last year's sale for 30 dollars. It's not old, but it's small and shallow so it fits nicely here. It's full of candles. It smells yummy when I open the doors.

Oh yes.............more on the all-city garage sale. Several years ago I was driving past a home while the lady of the house was putting these out on the curb for FREE! I rolled my window down and asked her to hold them for a second while I turned around. I nearly rolled my car getting back there. They were nasty brown herculon, but I whipped up a new slipcover......CUTE......don't you think? The blue is a bit of "poison" in the room. I hate it when everything is tooooo matchy. The other chair is in my closet. I don't have any room for it right now. Maybe someday?? :-) Can't get rid of a chair though, right?

Well, darn it..........two of these pix...........sorry! :-(
Pretend you didn't see the other ........K???

As I've said..........I have tole trays in EVERY room.......... Can you really have too many?

Tiny slip for this little chair. I'm going to paint a number on the back of it, but haven't had the gumption to get it finished.

I LOVE this old cabinet. I bought it many, many years ago. It's supposed to go in the kitchen, but I don't have room for it there in this house, so it's in here. I could never get rid of it. And, yep, that's a nasty old t.v. sitting there on top. I can't get rid of that either. I can see it in the mirror every morning from my bathroom while I put my make-up on. Gotta stay in touch with the world out there.

Isn't this the most adorable little vintage hat? Three dollars years and years ago at a garage sale.

I love old mottos and this one is just so sweet.

Might as well use up some of those old pearl buttons! Vintage white barkcloth and damask linen.

These pillows actually started their life in the kitchen. I bought wicker chairs for the table so we'd sit in there more and wanted them to be really cozy and comfy. No one still sits there, except for meal times and everyone kept removing them from the chairs anyway! The yellow pillow is made from part of an old bit of linen.

Simple little garage sale shelf all dolled up...........naturally, after I went to all the work to add the trim and little balls the darn thing warped. I've been looking for a new one for a long time.

Ahhhhhhhhhh...........that's my little grandson when he was just a little guy.

My tiara.........it's only a cheap one.......I'd like to find a really pretty one.........or two........or three! My daughter wears hers with a cute apron when she cleans. She swears it makes cleaning more fun. :-) That big blue "diamond" was my Mum's.........

Pretty plates............

Gosh I love yellow and pink together!

Look! There's my beautiful daughter and my little guy.......

I hope you've enjoyed the little tour. As I've said, I AM NOT a minimalist. Not that I don't like that look, I sure do, but I seem to like lots of things around me.

Please don't forget to check out all the other lovlies!

Thank you for coming!

God bless you!

Spencer

Oh Yes! I've Been Thrifting! Happy Pink Saturday To All Of You Sweet Girlies!

Hi my dearies........and Happy Pink Saturday...    :-)

I hope you've been having a glorious week.

We've actually seen the SUN here in the Pacific Northwest.....It was a beautiful day today.  Oh how I'm yearning for spring.

Well, if you've been reading the 'ol Bellamere Cottage blog you know the saga of the bleached blue check duvet cover..(see sad face)...shown right there in the picture above.  And, you also know that I've been on the quest to find a replacement.........I've been everywhere.  It's been a sad and pitiful quest.  Still no gingham.  But, with the bad news, there's always some good news, right?

Soooooooooooooo.....Let's just look at the BRIGHT side.    :-)

Well, if a girlie goes to thrift stores often enough she WILL find some treasures, right?

Yep, she sure will.

Lovely little linen tablecloth....I'm going to use it in the master bedroom re-do.  Four dollars.

And, another shot of that adorable Cath Kidston-ish bowl for the sewing room....

An enormous tea cup with posies on the front.....I think it was only two dollars.

Blue plate.....79 cents.

Little orphan teacup....29 cents  (I don't care if this little gal lost her saucer....I have a plan!)

Lidless cottage ware sugar bowl.....I don't remember how much this was, but it was a steal...

It's going in my bathroom....I don't know what I'll use it for, but I'll come up with something.  It makes me happy!

Bennington bowl?  Yep, less than a dollar!  Can you believe it?  I had a few of these many years ago, but sold them at my garage sale.....they were quite the "thing" then.

See that adorable little pitcher?  It has a green border on the bottom and is English...I love it!

I think that little white china piece is for posies.  I have something very similar that is for pansies....Do you think it is?  I think it would be soooo perfect for business cards.  Not that I have business cards, mind you!    :-)

 Yummy!

Wow!  Yowza!  Look at this little beauty!  I love it.  It was about three dollars and is in perfect condition.
I always envy all of the fabulous finds you girlies have on your bloggies.....I'm happy to say I've found a few of them myself.

I am crazy about that vintage flower pot.....Ok, it's NOT vintage.  I found two of them at the Goodwill, different pots at different stores, by the way....I think they're probably from the dollar store, but I LOVE them.....and they were so CHEAP.  Yep, I know I'm supposed to say inexpensive or affordable, but what the heck.........I LOVE CHEAP!

For lots more pink fun head on over to visit Miss Beverly @

Have a wonderful weekend my dearies!

I love you gobbies!

Bellamere Cottage Has Pinks For Pink Saturday!

Hi sweet girlies! Thanks so much for coming to visit!!!!

The dining room table at Bellamere Cottage.....ANYTHING can be PINK with a nice, little can of spray paint! :-)

No sense in putting one thing on a shelf if you can jam in a bunch of stuff! Remember.....my motto: Too Much Is Never Enough! Oh, and my secondary motto? Tie a bow on it.....it'll make it sooooooo much cuter!

Does it really get any better than a PINK teapot?? I love this one. My sweet Mum bought it for me for Christmas.

A little bit of chintz..........I think this particular piece is a reproduction piece. I love it any-hooo. It's sitting atop my little drawer do-hickey I bought years and years ago and still love it.

Seeeeeeeee????? Too much is NEVER enough!

Thanks so much for stopping by.

Loads and loads of other delightful pinks too, just visit Beverly at
www.howsweetthesound.typepad.com

You'll be glad you did!

Have a wonderful Pink Saturday.

It's Show and Tell Friday!........How Do You Feel About Estate Sales??

Thanks, Kelli, for hosting another Show and Tell Friday! Please be sure to hop on over and check out all the other fabulous girlies' posts!

www.kellishouse.blogspot.com

Do you love a good estate sale? Whew, it sure is a great place to pick up fabulous items, but, at the same time I feel guilty when I'm going through some one's lifetime of belongings. It's sort of creepy, isn't it?

I regularly get an e-mail from a local gal who does estate sales, complete with photos of her offerings. I've been to several of her sales and have actually purchased two of my very favorite items from her. It's wonderful that she posts photos so you know if the trek will be fruitful.

This is a teacup bonanza, isn't it??

You can always click on the snaps for a bigger view! :-)

I have a picture very similar in style to this one, it may be by the same artist. The frame is even the same shape....I'd LOVE to get this one.........but I doubt I'll be up to the early morning and long drive to go to this sale...

The "witch" sign just does NOT go with this picture.........

I'd LOVE the dog picture on the wall! Becky's prices are always so good..........

These people had tons of collections of "stuff"..........

Another shot of the teacup table.

Now, THIS picture got my little heart beating, for sure! Look at those yummy pieces of rose china! YUM!

It's at least a one hour drive through heavy traffic.........who knows what parking would be like...nahhhhhhh..........I won't be going, but I sure wish I could!

Wishing you a wonderful Friday!

Blessings and hugs,
Spencer

University Of Puget Sound Flea Market Finds! Yippppeeee!!!

Once a year The University of Puget Sound has a flea market to raise money for scholarships........it's not a HUGE market, but fun none the less. I found some pretty great buys and came home pleased!

*****Remember, you can click on any picture for a larger shot****

I didn't get a very good picture of it, but on top of the bibles there is a vintage wedding picture I thought was sweet. Really beat up, but still cute.....50 cents.

I'm thinking I should take a photography class......but I did my best here........I know, isn't that lampshade the saddest thing you've ever seen??? But..... :-) I recently saw one done up on somebody's blog........I wish I could remember who's it was, but unfortunately I can't....anyway.......she had left the whole frame bare and had done it up like a chandelier with lots of prisms. It had the scalloped bottom too, so I was actually in search of one. I'm delighted! And, it was only a dollar! The little plaque was one of the last things I found and was only 75 cents! I'll take the nasty leather cord off and add a pretty ribbon.

Four lovely vintage hankies for 50 cents each. I've washed all the linens, but haven't pressed any of them yet. As I've said, I have collected vintage linens for years and one of the things you never want to do is to put your linens away having been pressed. First of all, when you get them out you have to press them again or they don't look nice, and secondly it's very hard on them to store them with starch in them. It's infinitely better to just pop them in the drawer as is.

It's hard to tell, but see those two little folded bits on top?? Those are the most adorable baby sized pillow shams. Two for a dollar! Yowza! Underneath is a lovely huck towel with a crocheted edge. Four dollars.
I can't resist a little vintage frame and this one was fifty cents. You just can't pass that up! It seems I always have something I want to frame and it's great to have an assortment ready.

These were an unbelievable deal......a set of PERFECT pillowcases for five dollars! Aren't they pretty? Just imagine how long these would have taken to make? God bless the little gal who did all this work!

I have china plates EVERYWHERE with tons left over, but I still can't pass them up when they're a great deal. These were all a dollar each. I love that one on the top! Isn't it sweet? I thought of St. Patrick's Day when I saw it, but it isn't really shamrocks. I love it.

I simply cannot pass up a bible............The top on is VERY old and was $4.50, the center one is perfect and wonderful, with a zipper and gold edged pages........perfect for popping into my purse........and was...........................FREE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It didn't have a price on it and when I asked the gal how much it was she told me I could have it! Now, honestly, does it get any better than that??? I LOVE it! Thank you sweet lady! The bottom one is also perfect and was two dollars. I have so many bibles, but it's nice to have different versions and I like seeing them everywhere. I have a few that are very old and other people have written in them. Isn't that so special??? :-)

Have you heard the fellow on TV advertising chamois? I couldn't believe it when I found these, they are the same thing, but white with a scalloped edge........now that is just too darn cute, isn't it? I don't think I want to get them dirty cleaning though! Next to them is a lovely hand crocheted doily.......a DOLLAR! I don't even think you could buy the yarn to make it for a dollar.

This little gal's frame is going to need some work, but it was just too cute to pass up. I love vintage frames and this one was so sweet, as you can see THREE dollars! YIKES!
****Big Smile****

A set of beautiful linen napkins for $4.50........they are in perfect condition too. Now, I'm telling you, I collect napkins and certainly didn't need these, but who knows....someday I might! At least that's what I was telling myself when I was paying for them. ;-)

A close up of that old frame and one of two frogs my darling daughter found for me. I was looking for some........they're getting a smidge high at the antique stores, but these were a dollar each. I was pretty tickled with this find!

Thank you so much for coming today and seeing what's going on here at Bellamere Cottage.

Happy Monday and I hope your week is wonderful!

Many, many blessings!
Spencer
